New Delhi: JSW MG Motor India is preparing to expand its premium SUV lineup with the launch of the much-anticipated Hector Hawk on August 28. The upcoming SUV is expected to mark a significant milestone for the automaker as it will be the first vehicle in India to be based on the brand’s new ADAPT platform, which has been designed to support multiple electrified powertrains.

Industry expectations suggest that the Hector Hawk will be offered in both Battery Electric Vehicle (EV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) versions, reflecting the company’s growing focus on electrified mobility in the Indian market.

Inspired by Global Design

The new SUV is expected to be based on the Wuling Starlight 560, a model sold in international markets. Measuring approximately 4,700mm in length, 1,850mm in width and 1,700mm in height, the Hector Hawk is likely to offer generous cabin space while maintaining a modern SUV stance.

Recent test vehicles spotted on Indian roads indicate that the production version will closely resemble its global counterpart. The exterior is expected to feature rectangular LED headlamps, distinctive dual-layer LED daytime running lights (DRLs), wraparound LED tail lamps, a roof-mounted spoiler and a charging port integrated into the rear quarter panel—hinting at its electric credentials.

Modern Cabin with Premium Features

Inside, the Hector Hawk is expected to showcase a minimalist yet technology-rich cabin. Reports indicate that it may feature an 8.8-inch fully digital instrument cluster paired with a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The all-electric variant is expected to use a 69.2kWh battery pack paired with a front-mounted electric motor producing 201hp and 310Nm of torque.

Globally, the model claims a CLTC-certified driving range of up to 530km on a single charge. While the final India-specific figures may differ depending on testing standards, the SUV is expected to offer competitive real-world usability.

Plug-in Hybrid Version Also Expected

Alongside the electric model, JSW MG Motor India is also expected to introduce a plug-in hybrid version.

The PHEV setup is likely to combine:

• A 1.5-litre petrol engine
• A 20.5kWh battery pack
• An electric motor

Together, the system is expected to generate a combined output of 195hp and 230Nm of torque, while offering an electric-only driving range of around 125km, making it suitable for daily urban commuting with reduced fuel consumption.

ADAPT Platform Signals MG’s Future Strategy

One of the biggest highlights of the Hector Hawk is its underlying ADAPT platform. Recently unveiled by MG Motor, the architecture has been engineered to accommodate multiple electrified technologies, including:
