MG’s mystery SUV to debut on August 28! Hector Hawk likely to bring EV and hybrid power to India
MG Motor is gearing up to unveil a new mid-size SUV on August 28, with the upcoming model expected to be based on the Wuling Starlight 560 and offered in both electric and plug-in hybrid variants.
MG Motor India is preparing to strengthen its presence in the country’s fast-growing SUV segment with the debut of a brand-new model on August 28. The upcoming vehicle is expected to become the seventh SUV in the company’s Indian portfolio, joining popular models such as the MG Hector, Hector Plus, Astor, Windsor EV, ZS EV, and Majestor.
While the automaker has not officially revealed the name of the SUV, industry reports suggest it could be introduced as the MG Hector Hawk, a rebadged version of the Wuling Starlight 560 sold in international markets.
Built on MG’s new ADAPT platform
The upcoming SUV is expected to be underpinned by MG’s ADAPT (Advanced Drive Architecture Platform Technology), a next-generation platform unveiled recently by the company.
One of the biggest highlights of the ADAPT architecture is its flexibility, allowing it to support both fully electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) powertrains. This strategy aligns with MG’s focus on offering multiple electrified mobility solutions in India.

These dimensions place it firmly in the mid-size SUV category, making it comparable in size to the current MG Hector.
Recent patent filings and test vehicles spotted near manufacturing facilities have further strengthened speculation that the model is nearing its Indian debut.
Feature-rich cabin expected
Like other premium MG offerings, the new SUV is expected to come loaded with technology and comfort features.

The hybrid version is expected to feature:
