Bentley Bentayga Becomes Up to ₹1.7 Crore Cheaper After India-UK FTA: Luxury SUV Buyers Get a Big Surprise…

Luxury car buyers in India could soon have a compelling reason to consider the Bentley Bentayga. Following the implementation of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA), Bentley has reportedly begun accepting orders for the Bentayga SUV at significantly reduced prices.

The Bentayga is among the first premium vehicles expected to benefit immediately from the new trade agreement, making it one of the biggest winners in India’s ultra-luxury automobile segment.

Price Could Drop by Around ₹1.7 Crore

Before the new trade agreement came into effect, the Bentley Bentayga Extended Wheelbase (EWB) carried a price tag of around ₹5.9 crore (before optional customisations).

While Bentley India has not officially announced the revised pricing, industry estimates suggest the Bentayga EWB could now cost approximately ₹4.2 crore before options, representing a potential reduction of nearly ₹1.7 crore.

Meanwhile, the Bentayga Standard Wheelbase (SWB) is expected to be priced at around ₹3.75 crore before optional extras.

How the India-UK FTA Makes the Difference

The price reduction is driven by changes introduced under the India-UK Free Trade Agreement, which significantly lowers import duties on eligible British-made petrol vehicles.

Under the agreement:

• Import duty on qualifying British petrol vehicles with engines below 3.0 litres falls from 110% to 30%.
• The concession applies to a limited annual quota of 10,000 imported vehicles.
• Once the quota is exhausted, the previous 110% customs duty will continue to apply to additional imports.

The move is expected to make several premium British automobiles more accessible to Indian buyers.

Not Every Bentley Qualifies

Although Bentley offers its complete global lineup in India, not every model is eligible for the reduced import duty.

The Bentley Bentayga EWB, powered solely by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine, qualifies for the concession under the current FTA provisions.

Other petrol-powered Bentley models, including the Bentayga Speed and Continental Supersports, are also expected to benefit from the reduced tariff.

Hybrid Bentley Models Miss Out

The lower import duty does not extend to Bentley’s electrified models.

The agreement currently excludes:

• Plug-in hybrid vehicles
• Battery-electric vehicles
• Hydrogen-powered vehicles

for the first five years of the trade agreement.

As a result, Bentley models such as the Continental GT and Flying Spur, which are now offered exclusively with V8 plug-in hybrid powertrains, will continue to attract the existing higher import duty during this period.

A Major Boost for India’s Luxury Car Market

The revised pricing is expected to make the Bentley Bentayga considerably more competitive in India’s ultra-luxury SUV segment.

While it remains a vehicle aimed at a niche audience, a reduction of nearly ₹1.7 crore could encourage more buyers to consider the British luxury SUV over competing models.

Bentley is yet to officially confirm the final ex-showroom prices, but with bookings already being accepted under the revised duty structure, prospective customers are likely to benefit from one of the most significant price reductions seen in the luxury automobile market in recent years.
