Akhilesh Yadav’s ‘Bhag Jao Pakistan’ Jibe at BJP… Says SP Will Never Split

Lucknow: The political war of words in Uttar Pradesh intensified on Saturday as Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav coined a new expansion for the BJP “Bhag Jao Pakistan” while hitting back at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s remarks about the SP’s PDA formula.

Addressing a press conference, Akhilesh Yadav said the BJP’s name could be interpreted as “Bhag Jao Pakistan”. His response came after CM Yogi remarked that SP leaders could one day describe the “P” in PDA as “Pakistan”.

Yadav, however, offered a different interpretation of the opposition alliance’s political slogan, saying PDA also stands for “Pyar, Daya aur Apnapan” love, kindness and belonging.

He argued that the more people are brought together through these values, the stronger the Samajwadi Party will become, and predicted that the party would form a “historic government” in the future.

‘Samajwadi Party Will Never Split’

The SP chief also rejected repeated claims from BJP and allied leaders that his party was heading towards a major internal split.

According to Akhilesh Yadav, several political parties across India have faced divisions, but the Samajwadi Party has remained intact. He pointed to the party’s combination of MPs from his family, Muslim representatives and committed socialist leaders as factors behind its unity.

“Sometimes, nepotism can be beneficial,” Yadav remarked while responding to speculation surrounding the party.

He further maintained that SP does not break alliances, arguing that the party does not abandon its allies, although some partners have chosen to leave.

Mayawati Accuses SP of Breaking Alliances

Yadav’s comments came on a day when BSP chief Mayawati launched a fresh attack on the Samajwadi Party over its record with political alliances.

Mayawati alleged that the SP-BSP alliance had broken twice because of what she described as the SP’s “arrogant attitude”. She accused the party of using alliances for political advantage before changing its approach once its objectives were achieved.

Akhilesh, meanwhile, urged political parties to focus their criticism on the Uttar Pradesh and Central governments rather than attempting to politically isolate the SP.

BJP Allies Predict Trouble for Akhilesh

Speculation about the Samajwadi Party’s future has intensified following statements from UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and Cabinet Minister OP Rajbhar.

Rajbhar has claimed that several SP MPs from Purvanchal could leave the party, while Maurya has suggested that as many as 25 to 26 MPs could be in a position to walk away.

Akhilesh Yadav, however, dismissed the possibility of such a split and insisted that his party remains united.

Akhilesh Questions Bulletproof Jacket Claim

The SP chief also reacted to the Uttar Pradesh government’s announcement that bulletproof jackets had been provided to 52 political leaders, reportedly including Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati.

Yadav said he had not received a bulletproof jacket, adding that he would inform the media if one was provided to him.

He also criticised the vehicles previously provided for his security, claiming they were of poor quality.

Akhilesh Targets Government Over Schools and Economy

Turning to education, Akhilesh Yadav accused the state government of deliberately weakening the primary school system, alleging that children belonging to PDA communities were being deprived of quality education.

He promised that if the Samajwadi Party returns to power, its government would work to improve primary schools across Uttar Pradesh.

Yadav also questioned the government’s economic policies and its claims regarding per capita income, free food distribution and the goal of making Uttar Pradesh a $1 trillion economy.

With political rhetoric sharpening between the SP and BJP, the latest exchange indicates that PDA politics, party unity and alliances are likely to remain key battlegrounds in Uttar Pradesh’s evolving political landscape.
