“What About Waqf Land?” CM Yogi Adityanath Counters Opposition Amid Ram Temple Donation ControversyPratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday launched a sharp political attack on the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress, accusing them of raising questions only about Hindu religious institutions while ignoring what he described as large-scale encroachment of land by Waqf bodies.

Addressing a public gathering in Pratapgarh, the Chief Minister responded to the opposition’s criticism over alleged irregularities related to donations and financial transactions linked to the Ram Temple.

Taking a direct swipe at his political rivals, Adityanath asked, “What about the land that has been taken over by Waqf?” He argued that opposition parties remain vocal whenever issues involving Hindu faith emerge but choose to stay silent on matters concerning Waqf land.

The Chief Minister said attempts were being made to create unnecessary controversy around the Ram Temple, which he described as a symbol of faith for millions of devotees across the country. Without naming any opposition leader, he accused certain political parties of following a policy of selective criticism for political gains.

The remarks come amid an ongoing political confrontation over allegations concerning donations and financial management associated with the Ram Temple. The issue has become a fresh flashpoint between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and opposition parties, with both sides trading allegations over transparency and accountability.

Reiterating the BJP’s long-standing stand on what it calls “appeasement politics,” Adityanath claimed that questions are repeatedly raised only when Hindu religious institutions are involved, while similar concerns surrounding other religious bodies receive little attention from the opposition.

Apart from political issues, the Chief Minister also highlighted several development initiatives undertaken by the state government in Pratapgarh. He spoke about ongoing improvements in healthcare, road infrastructure, and other public welfare projects, asserting that the state has witnessed significant progress under the BJP government.

Adityanath also criticised previous governments over their handling of law and order, employment opportunities, and governance, claiming that Uttar Pradesh has undergone a major transformation in recent years.

With political temperatures rising ahead of upcoming electoral battles, the exchange over the Ram Temple and Waqf land is expected to further intensify the war of words between the BJP and opposition parties in the state.
