Saif Ali Khan on Bollywood’s paparazzi culture: ‘My Life was fine without them’ Says stardom Is losing its mystery
Actor Saif Ali Khan gets candid about the rise of paparazzi culture in Bollywood, saying constant visibility is affecting the aura and privacy of movie stars.
Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has opened up about the rapidly growing paparazzi culture in India, and his views are clear he is not entirely comfortable with it.
In a recent conversation with Barkha Dutt, the actor spoke honestly about how the increasing presence of paparazzi around celebrities has changed the nature of stardom.
According to Saif Ali Khan, the constant visibility of actors is slowly eroding the mystery and fascination that once surrounded film stars.
Calling it a “weird relationship,” Saif pointed out that while some celebrities may welcome the attention, the situation remains complicated for many.
He said that in today’s environment, it is often difficult to tell who is genuine media and who is simply chasing sensational content.
The actor also highlighted how speaking against paparazzi culture can often be misunderstood, making celebrities appear ungrateful or arrogant.
Saif went on to explain that one of the biggest issues with paparazzi is how it can intrude into private spaces and moments.
He suggested that the ultimate “paparazzi picture” is often one where a celebrity is caught in a vulnerable or unguarded situation something they would rather keep private.
Drawing comparisons with Hollywood and British celebrity culture, Saif noted that this kind of exposure strips away glamour and damages the larger-than-life image associated with stars.
For him, that loss of mystery directly impacts stardom.

Over the years, India’s entertainment industry has seen a major rise in paparazzi-driven content, with actors being followed outside gyms, airports, restaurants, and even family outings.

While fans often enjoy these glimpses into celebrities’ lives, Saif’s comments reflect a growing concern about personal boundaries and privacy.
On the professional front, Saif Ali Khan is preparing for the release of his upcoming thriller Haiwaan, where he stars alongside Akshay Kumar.
Directed by Priyadarshan, the suspense thriller is set to release on September 11, 2026 and also features Shriya Pilgaonkar and Saiyami Kher in key roles.
