‘Keep Me Away From Protests’: Diljit Dosanjh faces backlash as CJP says ‘If you choose not to speak…’
Diljit Dosanjh’s comments on the ongoing Jantar Mantar protest have sparked debate online, with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) now issuing a sharp response over student concerns.
New Delhi: Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh has found himself at the center of fresh controversy after distancing himself from the ongoing protest at Jantar Mantar, led by activist Sonam Wangchuk and Abhijeet Dipke.
The singer-actor, known for his massive fan following and outspoken public image, made the remarks during a recent Instagram Live session, where he was asked about the protest.
Responding to the question, Diljit made it clear that he prefers to stay away from political issues.
“Keep me away from protests and such things. I am an artist, not a politician,” he said, adding that he was not fully aware of the issue.
The actor also quoted a verse from the Guru Granth Sahib, saying, “Nanak dukhiya sab sansar, so sukhia jis naam adhaar,” reflecting his spiritual perspective on the state of the world.
Diljit further stated that his name often gets dragged into such matters, but he harbors no negativity toward anyone involved.
In a remark that quickly went viral, he said both sides of the protest deserved “congratulations,” while admitting he did not know enough about the matter.

The statement triggered a wave of mixed reactions online.
Some fans supported his decision to stay neutral, arguing that artists should not be forced into political commentary. Others, however, criticized the response, calling it dismissive of important social issues.

Soon after, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) issued a public response.
According to CJP, the protest at Jantar Mantar is not tied to any political party but is focused on education reforms, student welfare, and demands for accountability in the system.
The organization stressed that the movement reflects the concerns of students, young people, and families who are deeply worried about the future of education in India.
In its statement, CJP pointed out that a large portion of Diljit Dosanjh’s fanbase comes from Gen Z and student communities, many of whom actively support his music and films.
The group added that while it respects Diljit’s personal decision not to speak on the issue, many hoped he would not dismiss concerns that impact millions of students across the country.
The controversy has now opened up a larger conversation on whether celebrities should use their influence to support social causes or remain neutral.
For now, Diljit Dosanjh appears firm on his stance: staying focused on art and keeping distance from political or protest-driven discourse.
