Can Yash’s Toxic rewrite box office history on Day 1? All signs point to a record-smashing start
With massive buzz, bold promos, and the post-KGF Chapter 2 hype, Yash’s long-awaited return could make Toxic the highest-grossing Kannada film of 2026 in just one day.
Bengaluru: The countdown has officially begun for Yash’s much-awaited comeback film Toxic, and if current buzz is anything to go by, the film could storm the box office like no Kannada release this year.
From its gripping teaser introducing Raya to the recently dropped ‘Ladies & Ladies’ promo, every promotional asset has kept the film trending across social media, turning it into one of the most anticipated Indian releases of 2026.
Despite facing multiple delays, Toxic has not lost its momentum.
In fact, industry experts believe the repeated promotional drops have only intensified curiosity, making the upcoming period gangster drama one of the hottest topics in Sandalwood and beyond.
The biggest driving force behind this unprecedented anticipation is simple this marks Yash’s first big-screen appearance after the blockbuster success of KGF: Chapter 2.
After KGF Chapter 2 became a pan-India sensation and built Yash a massive global fanbase, expectations for his next project have remained sky-high.

Now, with August 26, 2026, locked as the official release date, the excitement has hit another level.
Trade analysts are already predicting that Toxic could open with an eye-popping ₹100 crore worldwide on Day 1, a figure that would instantly put it in record books.
If that happens, the film will not only become Yash’s biggest opener after KGF but could also emerge as the highest-grossing Kannada film of 2026 within 24 hours of release.

At present, the title of the year’s top Kannada grosser belongs to KD – The Devil, starring Dhruva Sarja, which has reportedly collected ₹25.62 crore worldwide.
That number could be surpassed by Toxic before the first day even ends.
Interestingly, some of the film’s promotional material has also stirred controversy for its bold themes and visual style.
But in the world of cinema, controversy often fuels visibility and in Toxic’s case, it appears to be working in its favor.
With Yash returning, fan frenzy peaking, and the box office waiting, Toxic is shaping up to be one of the biggest cinematic events of the year.
The only question now is: Will Yash create another KGF-like storm or something even bigger?
