Rajkummar Rao’s Prahaar Release Delayed? Makers reportedly avoid Box Office Clash with Spider-Man: Brand New day and Batwara 1947

Rajkummar Rao's Prahaar Reportedly Delayed to Avoid Spider-Man: Brand New Day Box Office Clash
Rajkummar Rao stars as renowned prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam in Prahaar, which is reportedly being postponed to avoid a crowded August box office.

Actor Rajkummar Rao’s upcoming courtroom drama Prahaar is reportedly set for a release date change. The film, which was originally scheduled to arrive in cinemas on August 7, is said to have been postponed as its makers reassess the crowded box office calendar.

While an official announcement is still awaited from Maddock Films, industry reports suggest that the production house is looking for a more suitable release window to maximise the film’s theatrical run.

Crowded August Calendar Behind The Reported Delay

According to reports, the decision has been influenced by the number of high-profile Bollywood and Hollywood releases lined up in August.

If Prahaar had released as planned, it would have arrived just one week after Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is scheduled to hit theatres on July 30, and only a week before major releases including Batwara 1947 and Awarapan 2, both expected on August 14.

The month will also see films such as Insidious: Out of the Further and Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups, making competition at the box office particularly intense.

Industry insiders reportedly believe that Prahaar deserves a stronger release window to fully capitalise on audience interest.

Lack Of Promotions Fuelled Speculation

Speculation surrounding the postponement gained momentum after fans noticed the absence of any promotional campaign despite the film being only weeks away from its announced release date.

Producer Dinesh Vijan is known for launching extensive marketing campaigns well ahead of his films’ theatrical releases. The silence around Prahaar has therefore strengthened reports that the makers are planning a revised launch strategy.

Inspired By The Life Of Ujjwal Nikam

Prahaar is reportedly inspired by the life and career of renowned special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, with Rajkummar Rao portraying the veteran lawyer.

Earlier, Nikam praised the actor’s performance, saying Rajkummar had delivered a remarkable portrayal while highlighting that the film goes beyond courtroom victories to explore his personal life as a husband and father.

According to Nikam, the film presents the untold moments behind several high-profile legal battles that rarely make headlines.

Strong Cast And Acclaimed Director

Directed by Avinash Arun, known for projects such as Three of Us and the acclaimed web series Paatal Lok, Prahaar features an impressive supporting cast including Wamiqa Gabbi, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Sikandar Kher.

The film is produced by Dinesh Vijan under the banner of Maddock Films.

With audiences showing growing interest in courtroom dramas and biographical stories, industry watchers will now be waiting for an official announcement regarding the film’s revised release date.
