Kochi: Malayalam cinema’s blockbuster success story Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra has added another major feather to its cap.

After creating history at the box office, the film has now been officially selected for two prestigious international film festivals the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival and the Indian Film Festival Stuttgart.

The announcement was made by Wayfarer Films, the production house backed by actor-producer Dulquer Salmaan, who called the achievement “incredibly special.”

Sharing his excitement, Dulquer said seeing the film earn recognition on global platforms was deeply satisfying and a proud moment for the entire team.

He emphasized that the film’s journey beyond theatres proves how powerful and sincere storytelling can break language barriers and connect with audiences worldwide.

For Dulquer, the festival selections are not just a win for the film, but a bigger moment for Malayalam cinema’s growing global recognition.

Directed by Dominic Arun, Lokah – Chapter 1: Chandra made headlines earlier this year for becoming Malayalam cinema’s first female superhero film.

The movie stars Kalyani Priyadarshan in the lead role and was praised for its unique storytelling, emotional depth, and visually ambitious superhero universe.

Its theatrical run was nothing short of historic.
