Alia Bhatt and Sharvari lead YRF’s ambitious spy thriller Alpha as the film opens in over 9,000 shows across India.

Alia Bhatt is stepping into uncharted territory with Alpha, and the early signs suggest that the film is already making a strong statement at the box office. The much-anticipated action thriller, which marks the first female-led chapter in the iconic Yash Raj Films Spy Universe, hit cinemas worldwide on July 3, carrying massive expectations on its shoulders.

What’s turning heads even before the first-day numbers roll in is the scale of its release. According to trade reports, Alpha has secured a staggering 2,750 screens across India and is running in over 9,000 shows nationwide, making it one of the widest releases ever for a female-led Hindi film.

Industry insiders believe this aggressive release strategy reflects the sheer confidence of Yash Raj Films (YRF) in the project. In a crowded theatrical window featuring films like Welcome to the Jungle, Cocktail 2, and Main Vaapas Aaunga, Alpha has managed to secure a dominant presence, something many trade experts see as a major win.

The film has also shown promising momentum in advance bookings. Early estimates suggest Alpha has already earned around Rs 3.06 crore before release through pre-sales alone. National cinema chains are reportedly witnessing strong ticket demand, with projections pointing towards nearly 35,000 tickets sold ahead of opening day.

Trade analysts are now predicting a Day 1 collection in the range of Rs 7 crore to Rs 8 crore, though much will depend on spot bookings and audience walk-ins. While these figures indicate a solid opening rather than an explosive one, industry watchers believe positive word-of-mouth could push collections higher over the weekend.

Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha is the seventh instalment in the blockbuster YRF Spy Universe and arguably its most experimental outing yet. Unlike previous entries such as Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, and Pathaan, this film shifts the spotlight to female leads.

Alongside Alia Bhatt, the film stars Sharvari Wagh in a pivotal role, with strong supporting performances from Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol.

For Alia Bhatt, Alpha could mark yet another milestone in her career, but the bigger question remains — can this female-fronted spy spectacle match the blockbuster legacy built by superstars like Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, and Shah Rukh Khan?

As the first-day box office battle begins, all eyes are on whether Alpha can convert curiosity into a full-blown theatrical triumph.
