Anupama Parameswaran has opened up about what she describes as two years of narcissistic abuse, saying she is now focused on healing, freedom and finding herself again.

Anupama Parameswaran has opened up about a deeply personal chapter of her life, revealing that she spent two years in a relationship that she describes as emotionally and physically destructive.

The actor, who recently sparked curiosity with an Instagram post about letting go of “dead ends” and finding peace, has now explained what was behind those words. In an interview with Dhanya Varma, Anupama said the post was not a spontaneous decision but the culmination of a long and difficult process.

“There is two years of pain, physical, emotional destruction, behind that one post,” she said.

Anupama did not name the person involved or disclose specific details about the relationship.

‘I Was Shrinking’

Looking back at the relationship, Anupama said she noticed a significant change in herself after it began.

She described feeling as though she was gradually becoming smaller rather than growing into herself.

“I was shrinking,” she said, explaining that she lost a considerable amount of weight during that period.

For the actor, the change was not simply physical. She suggested that the experience affected her emotionally and changed how she viewed herself.

Instead of feeling that she was “blooming”, Anupama said she felt herself shrinking.

Her decision to speak publicly about the experience appears to have come only after she felt ready to do so.

Why Anupama Finally Spoke About It

Anupama’s earlier Instagram post had immediately attracted attention.

She wrote about letting go of dead ends and choosing peace, freedom and her own voice. She also thanked her followers for standing by her and described the moment as a return to herself.

The post led to widespread speculation about her personal life, with some people interpreting it as a possible breakup announcement.

In her latest interview, Anupama explained that there was far more behind the post than what people could see on social media.

She said there were two years of experiences behind those few lines and that she did not want to share something simply for the sake of making an announcement.

Instead, she wanted to post when she was genuinely ready.

‘I Have Gone Through Narcissistic Abuse’

Anupama specifically described what she experienced as narcissistic abuse.

She said she first began understanding the term after seeing actress Madonna Sebastian discuss narcissistic abuse on social media.

According to Anupama, her reaction was so intense that she began physically shaking because she recognised aspects of what she had experienced.

She said there are different groups of people who may respond to conversations around narcissistic abuse. Some have experienced it themselves or watched loved ones go through it, while others may have heard the term without understanding what it means.

She also cautioned against reducing such conversations to assumptions about gender or dismissing people’s experiences without knowing what happened.

Most importantly, Anupama said she wanted to reach people who may be experiencing similar situations but have not yet recognised what is happening to them.

She described that group as particularly vulnerable because identifying the problem can be the first step towards addressing it.

‘Today, Peace Found Me’

Anupama’s social media message reflected the same sense of closure.

In the post, she said that she had chosen to let go, reclaim her voice and begin living life on her own terms.

She thanked her followers for their messages, prayers and support, saying that their kindness reached her during a time when she needed it.

The actor ended the message by celebrating healing, freedom and choosing herself.

Her latest comments now provide more context to those words.

Dating Speculation Had Earlier Surrounded Anupama

Anupama’s personal life has previously attracted considerable attention because of speculation surrounding her relationship with actor Dhruv Vikram.

Dating rumours involving the two intensified during the making of Mari Selvaraj’s Bison Kaalamaadan. Social media users also circulated an unverified photograph and pointed to various interactions between the actors as possible signs of a relationship.

At an awards event, Anupama appeared emotional and happy when Dhruv wished her on stage, while she reportedly referred to him as her “2 AM call.” The two were also seen sharing affectionate social media interactions on other occasions.

However, neither actor publicly confirmed the nature of their relationship.

Their subsequent lack of public interaction led to further speculation about whether they had separated or simply chosen to keep their personal lives private.

Anupama’s latest interview does not name Dhruv Vikram or identify the person she was referring to, so it would be inappropriate to assume that her comments were about him.

A New Chapter for Anupama

For Anupama, the focus now appears to be less on speculation and more on rebuilding her own sense of self.

Her decision to speak about a difficult period in her life comes after she says she spent considerable time healing and understanding what she had experienced.

Rather than revealing every detail, she has chosen to talk about the emotional impact and the importance of recognising unhealthy patterns.

Her message is ultimately about reclaiming control over her own life.

And after months of questions surrounding her cryptic posts and personal life, Anupama has now made one thing clear: she is choosing her voice, her freedom and herself.
