Jana Nayagan box office Day 2: Thalapathy Vijay’s final film races past ₹50 crore, Tamil Nadu powers strong run
Despite the usual second-day dip, Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan maintained solid momentum, crossing the ₹50 crore India net mark within two days, with Tamil Nadu continuing to drive collections.
Thalapathy Vijay’s swansong before entering full-time politics continues to attract audiences across the country. Jana Nayagan delivered another strong performance at the box office on Friday, comfortably crossing the ₹50 crore India net milestone within just two days of its theatrical release.
The action drama, directed by H. Vinoth, remained particularly dominant in Tamil Nadu, where occupancy levels stayed healthy across major cities despite a natural drop after its blockbuster opening day.
Day 2 collections take total past ₹54 crore
According to early trade estimates by Sacnilk, Jana Nayagan collected around ₹11.72 crore (live) on its second day.
This takes the film’s India net collection to approximately ₹54.42 crore, while its India gross earnings have reached around ₹64.11 crore. The final Day 2 figures may vary slightly once all shows are reported.
The film had opened with an impressive ₹42.70 crore on Day 1, making it one of the biggest Tamil openings of the year.
Tamil version remains the biggest contributor
The Tamil version continued to dominate the film’s earnings, contributing an estimated ₹9.50 crore on Friday with an overall occupancy of around 40%.
The Hindi version earned approximately ₹1.25 crore, while the Telugu version added nearly ₹0.97 crore to the tally.
The film was screened in more than 10,000 shows nationwide on Day 2, reflecting its wide theatrical reach.

Chennai and Pondicherry lead occupancy charts
Among the key markets, Pondicherry recorded the highest occupancy, touching nearly 74%, followed closely by Chennai at almost 70%.
Other strong-performing centres included:
- Trichy – 66%
- Coimbatore – 58%
- Salem – 41%
Outside Tamil Nadu, occupancy remained comparatively lower, with Bengaluru, Kochi, Mumbai, and the National Capital Region (NCR) posting moderate numbers.
The Telugu version also witnessed encouraging response in cities such as Guntur, Kakinada, Warangal, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, and Hyderabad.

Star-studded cast adds to the appeal
Produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan features an ensemble cast led by Thalapathy Vijay alongside Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mamitha Baiju, and Narain.
Released in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu on July 23, the film has generated enormous interest as it is widely expected to be Vijay’s final feature film before he begins his full-time political journey.
Weekend expected to boost collections
With positive audience response in Tamil-speaking regions and the weekend ahead, trade analysts expect Jana Nayagan to maintain its momentum over the next two days.
If the film continues to attract family audiences and Vijay’s fan base in large numbers, it could register another significant jump in collections and strengthen its position among the year’s highest-grossing Tamil releases.
