‘Films Can’t Be Gender-Oriented’: Alia Bhatt breaks silence on brutal injuries, action-packed Alpha and why this role changed everything
From high-octane fight sequences to working with Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor, Alia Bhatt opens up about pushing boundaries in one of her most physically demanding films yet.
Mumbai: Actress Alia Bhatt is stepping into uncharted territory with her upcoming action entertainer Alpha, and if her latest revelations are anything to go by, this could be one of the boldest chapters of her career.
Known for delivering powerful performances across genres, Alia is now embracing the adrenaline-fueled world of action cinema a genre she believes should never be boxed into labels like “female-oriented.”
Speaking during the promotional tour of Alpha, the actress made it clear that cinema should be viewed beyond gender.
“Films are films,” Alia said, emphasizing that entertainment should be the only category audiences focus on.
The film, backed by Yash Raj Films, marks the first time both Alia Bhatt and co-star Sharvari Wagh have taken on such physically demanding action roles.
According to Alia, preparing for the film required months of rigorous training, intense rehearsals, and a complete shift in mindset.
She described the experience as both exciting and exhausting, calling it a “dream come true” to perform action on such a large cinematic scale.
The film also features industry veterans Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor, and Alia had nothing but praise for her co-stars.
Speaking about Bobby Deol, Alia revealed she was surprised by the contrast between his imposing on-screen presence and his humble real-life personality.
She described him as someone who naturally elevates every scene, calling his screen presence “magical.”
With multiple intense combat scenes reportedly shared between the two, fans can expect some of the film’s biggest moments to come from their face-offs.

But the action came at a cost.
Alia admitted she suffered injuries during the shoot, though she brushed them off with the classic “No pain, no gain” mindset.
Despite the bruises and physically demanding schedule, she insisted the journey was worth every challenge.

Apart from action, Alpha is also expected to feature a strong dose of music, drama, and emotional storytelling making it a complete commercial package.
Beyond the film, Alia also addressed her viral appearance on India’s Got Latent, where her candid and unfiltered side won over fans online.
Calling the experience “extremely fun,” she praised comedian Samay Raina for the joy and laughter he brings to audiences.
As Alpha gears up for release, it’s clear Alia Bhatt isn’t just experimenting with action she’s making a statement.
And if her words are anything to go by, this isn’t about proving women can lead action films. It’s about proving great cinema doesn’t need labels.
