Hyderabad: For millions of fans, Rana Daggubati will always be remembered as the fierce Bhallaladeva from Baahubali, but beyond the silver screen, the actor has been crafting a very different legacy one built on business, innovation, and vision.

Over the years, Rana has transformed himself from a celebrated Telugu cinema star into one of India’s most dynamic investor-entrepreneurs, proving that his ambitions go far beyond films.

Born into the legendary Daggubati family, Rana inherited a rich cinematic tradition. His late father, D. Ramanaidu, built one of India’s most respected production houses, producing over 170 films across 13 languages since its inception in 1964. The banner gave Indian cinema memorable titles like Drushyam, Gopala Gopala, and Coolie No.1.

But Rana chose to widen that legacy.

His entrepreneurial journey began much earlier than many realise. In 2005, he founded Spirit Media, initially as a visual effects and production company. Over time, it evolved into a larger content-driven ecosystem, branching into marketing, celebrity management, media-tech incubation, and storytelling innovation.

For Rana, everything starts with a story.

Speaking about his business philosophy, he once explained that a story isn’t limited to a film it can evolve into products, experiences, and technology-driven ideas. That belief has shaped much of his investment strategy.

His fascination with the future of content also led him into the world of Web3. Around 2021, Rana reportedly co-founded a digital platform aimed at helping artists and creators monetize assets in the metaverse. He also explored investments in startups focused on virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML).

At the same time, Rana has remained deeply committed to preserving India’s storytelling heritage. In 2019, he acquired a stake and joined the board of Amar Chitra Katha, one of India’s most iconic comic book brands. His involvement has helped the company strengthen its digital presence and connect with younger readers.

But his investments don’t stop there.

From gaming and skincare to food brands and consumer products, Rana has built a diversified portfolio through several strategic angel investments. One of his recent standout ventures is Loca Loka, a premium beverage brand co-founded with music sensation Anirudh Ravichander and entrepreneur Harsha Vadlamudi.
