“MacBook Shock Incoming?” Apple Reportedly Planning ‘Ultra’ Beast With OLED Touchscreen… But Prices Could Burn a Hole in Your Pocket

New leaks suggest Apple is preparing a major MacBook shake-up with a premium MacBook Ultra and refreshed M6 MacBook Pro, but rising costs may push prices to record highs in India.

Apple MacBook Ultra Leak: M6 MacBook Pro, OLED Display, Touchscreen & Record High Prices Expected
Leaked reports suggest Apple is preparing a MacBook Ultra with OLED touchscreen and M5 chips, potentially making it the most expensive MacBook lineup ever.

Apple fans may need to brace themselves for a double surprise this year—one exciting, the other painful.

According to a report by Bloomberg tech journalist Mark Gurman, Apple Inc. is preparing not one, but two high-end MacBook launches that could redefine its laptop lineup.

The company is reportedly working on a completely new MacBook Ultra, alongside a refreshed MacBook Pro powered by the upcoming M6 chip.

But there’s a catch—these machines may also become the most expensive MacBooks Apple has ever released.

A NEW “ULTRA” CATEGORY IN THE MAKING

For months, industry watchers believed Apple was planning a major redesign of the MacBook Pro series. However, the latest leaks suggest a different direction altogether.

Instead of replacing the Pro lineup, Apple may introduce an entirely new tier—MacBook Ultra—positioned above the current Pro models.

This new device is expected to feature a bold upgrade package including:

  • A touchscreen display
  • An OLED panel
  • A redesigned premium body
  • M5 Pro and M5 Max chips

Interestingly, these chips already exist in the current high-end MacBook Pro lineup, suggesting Apple may be reshuffling its product hierarchy rather than simply upgrading hardware.

If true, the MacBook Ultra could become Apple’s new flagship laptop category, targeting professionals who demand maximum performance and are willing to pay for it.

M6 MACBOOK PRO ALSO IN THE PIPELINE

Alongside the Ultra model, Apple is also said to be testing a refreshed entry-level MacBook Pro powered by the M6 chip, internally known as J804.

As reported by Gurman, Apple has already tested the M6 processor for this upcoming model. There are also indications that the company may skip intermediate variants like M6 Pro and M6 Max, instead focusing on future chips such as M7 Pro and M7 Max for its most powerful machines.

If this roadmap holds, Apple’s MacBook lineup could soon be split more clearly into two directions:

  • A redesigned MacBook Ultra for extreme performance users
  • A refined MacBook Pro with incremental M-series upgrades

PRICES ALREADY SHOCKING IN INDIA

Even before any official announcement, pricing has already become a major talking point—especially in India.

Recent adjustments on Apple India’s official store show sharp increases across MacBook models, driven by rising global memory costs.

For example:

  • The 14-inch MacBook Pro (M5, 16GB RAM) has jumped from ₹1,69,900 to ₹2,39,900
  • The higher-end M5 Max variant has surged from ₹3,99,900 to ₹4,99,900

These hikes—some reaching nearly ₹1 lakh—came after Apple CEO Tim Cook acknowledged that rising memory and supply chain costs were forcing price revisions across products.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR BUYERS

If Apple follows this trend, the upcoming MacBook Ultra and M6 MacBook Pro could enter the market at even steeper price points.

Industry observers believe Apple is deliberately leaning further into the premium segment, positioning MacBooks less as consumer laptops and more as ultra-high-end professional machines.

For users, this means one thing: future MacBooks may offer cutting-edge innovation—but at a cost that only a few will comfortably afford.

Until Apple officially confirms the lineup, all eyes remain on its next launch cycle. But if these leaks prove accurate, 2025 could mark the beginning of Apple’s most expensive MacBook era yet.
