Akshaye Khanna’s calm reaction to ‘Dhurandhar’ success is peak Akshaye: ‘This too shall pass’

While most actors would be celebrating a record-breaking blockbuster with grand statements and victory laps, Akshaye Khanna has responded in a way only he can — quietly, calmly, and without letting success get to his head.

After a phenomenal 2025, where the actor delivered two major hits — Chhaava and Dhurandhar — Akshaye has once again reminded everyone why he remains one of the industry’s most unconventional stars.

While Chhaava crossed Rs 500 crore in India, Dhurandhar went a step further, rewriting history by becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time, collecting over Rs 800 crore domestically.

But according to filmmaker Siddharth P. Malhotra, Akshaye’s reaction to the film’s historic success was as understated as ever.

Speaking in a recent interview, Siddharth — who is directing Akshaye’s upcoming Netflix thriller Ikka — revealed that Dhurandhar released while they were still shooting.

He shared how the actor never let the box office frenzy affect his mindset.

“Akshaye is the kind of person who doesn’t take success to his head or failure to his heart,” Siddharth said, calling him one of the easiest actors to work with.

But it was Akshaye’s own words about the blockbuster that stood out.

According to Siddharth, the actor simply said:

“I’ve done my job as an actor. This fandom has come in a certain way, and this too shall pass.”

The statement has now gone viral among fans, many calling it the most “Akshaye Khanna-coded” response possible.

Known for staying away from excessive publicity and rarely giving interviews, Akshaye has long maintained a reputation for being fiercely private and deeply focused on his craft.

Siddharth further revealed that Akshaye even advised him not to feel pressured by the scale of Dhurandhar’s success.

“Don’t take the pressure. You just make your film. Make sure it’s a good one,” the actor reportedly told him.

Akshaye is now preparing for Ikka, where he reunites with Sunny Deol in a full-fledged role after making a brief cameo in Border 2 earlier this year.

The Netflix film also stars Dia Mirza and Tillotama Shome, and is scheduled to premiere on July 10, 2026.

At a time when box office numbers often dominate industry conversations, Akshaye Khanna’s detached and grounded outlook is perhaps the rarest kind of stardom Bollywood has left.
