Rakesh Bedi Breaks Silence on CINTAA Row, Reveals ‘I Gave Money From My Own Pocket…’

Veteran actor Rakesh Bedi has spoken out amid the ongoing internal dispute within the Cine and TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA), describing the situation as deeply unfortunate while expressing confidence that the differences among members will eventually be resolved.

The controversy has been building after 11 members reportedly resigned from the association, raising concerns over the way certain important decisions were being taken. Poonam Dhillon and Padmini Kolhapure, however, have rejected the allegations. The matter later reached the court, adding another layer to the association’s internal tensions.

Speaking to ANI, Bedi said the developments were “very sad” and stressed that many artistes devote considerable time to the association as a form of service to their colleagues in the entertainment industry.

Bedi also recalled a musical tribute organised by CINTAA in 2024 to mark the birth centenary of legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor. While defending the efforts made by the association and its members, the actor made a personal revelation saying that he had even contributed money from his own pocket for the event and had never publicly spoken about it before.

According to Bedi, the contribution was made for the welfare of actors, and he rejected the suggestion that those involved with the association had not been working or lacked good intentions.

The veteran actor also sought to separate the organisational disagreement from his personal relationships within the industry. He maintained that he continues to share a good equation with fellow actors despite differences of opinion over CINTAA’s functioning.

Bedi indicated that disagreements in perspective may exist for now but said he expects the dispute to be settled rather than allowing the association’s work to come to a halt.

The legal proceedings surrounding the association’s election process remain significant. A court permitted the polls to proceed on September 9, subject to the outcome of the continuing legal case, and the CINTAA elections were subsequently held on September 12, 2026.

Rakesh Bedi’s Upcoming Film

Away from the association controversy, Rakesh Bedi is preparing for the release of Prem Keetanu, directed by Apoorv Singh Karki and produced by Gaurav Verma under Avanika Films.

The upcoming comedy-drama also features Veer Pahariya, Aafiya Sayed, Aparshakti Khurana and Nikhil Vijay. The film revolves around young people navigating college life, friendship, love, heartbreak and uncertainty about their futures.

Prem Keetanu is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 2, 2026.

For now, Bedi’s comments underline his hope that the disagreement within CINTAA will be resolved and that the association will remain focused on what he considers its central responsibility working for the welfare of its members.
