iQOO 16 Leak: Triple 50MP Cameras, Periscope Telephoto and a Huge 8,500mAh Battery Could Make It a Flagship Monster
A new leak claims the iQOO 16 could arrive with three 50-megapixel rear cameras, including a large periscope telephoto sensor, alongside a 165Hz 2K display and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset.
iQOO 16 could be shaping up to be one of the most ambitious flagship smartphones from the brand yet. A new leak has reportedly revealed details about its rear camera system, suggesting that iQOO may equip the upcoming phone with three 50-megapixel cameras, including a periscope telephoto sensor for long-range photography.
The smartphone has not been officially announced by iQOO, so the specifications should be treated as unconfirmed for now. However, the latest information adds to a growing list of hardware details reportedly associated with the next-generation flagship.
iQOO 16 could get three 50MP cameras
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the engineering version of the iQOO 16 is being tested with a triple-camera setup featuring 50-megapixel sensors across all three rear cameras.
The primary camera is reportedly based on a 1/1.3-inch 50-megapixel sensor with an f/1.68 aperture. If accurate, the relatively large sensor could help the phone capture more light and produce improved results in challenging lighting conditions.
The ultrawide camera is said to use another 50-megapixel sensor, paired with an f/2.0 aperture.
The biggest upgrade could come to the telephoto camera. The leaked engineering configuration reportedly features a 50-megapixel periscope camera using a 1/1.95-inch sensor and an f/2.65 aperture.
The exact optical zoom range has not been revealed, meaning it is still too early to determine how aggressively the iQOO 16 will compete with other camera-focused flagship phones.
Redesigned camera module also tipped
The camera hardware may not be the only visual change.
The leak reportedly points to a redesigned rear camera arrangement, with the three sensors potentially placed in an inverted layout inside a smaller square-shaped camera module positioned in the upper-left corner of the rear panel.
The exact design could still change before the commercial launch, particularly because the leaked information is reportedly based on an engineering device.
Macro functionality also remains unclear at this stage.
iQOO 16 specifications could be seriously upgraded
The camera leak comes shortly after reports suggested that the iQOO 16 could receive substantial upgrades in other areas.
The phone is reportedly being tested with a 6.85-inch Samsung flat display offering a 2K resolution and an unusually high 165Hz refresh rate.
A dedicated graphics chip is also said to be under consideration, potentially giving the phone an advantage in demanding gaming workloads.
Other reported features include a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, symmetrical dual speakers and an X-axis linear motor.
If these specifications materialise, iQOO appears to be targeting users who want flagship performance as well as gaming-focused hardware.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro could power the phone
At the heart of the iQOO 16 could be Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship platform, reportedly called the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.
Earlier reports have linked the processor to the SM8975 model number and suggested that it could feature an Adreno 850 GPU.
The handset is also tipped to support LPDDR6 and LPDDR5X memory, although the final memory configurations remain unknown.

Such hardware would put the iQOO 16 firmly in the premium performance segment, particularly if the company pairs the processor with the reported dedicated graphics chip.
8,500mAh battery could be another major highlight
Perhaps the most surprising specification is the reported battery capacity.
The iQOO 16 could reportedly pack a massive 8,500mAh battery, supported by 100W wired charging.
Wireless charging is also said to be under consideration.
A battery of this size would be a significant increase for a flagship smartphone and could particularly appeal to heavy users and gamers. However, the actual battery capacity and charging specifications will need official confirmation.
The phone is also expected to offer IP68 and IP69 protection, USB 3.2 connectivity and an AR coating for the display.
iQOO 16 launch and India price expectations
The iQOO 16 is reportedly expected to launch in China around late September or early October, although iQOO has not confirmed an official launch date.
Its India availability remains uncertain.
Pricing could also become a major talking point. Reports suggest that rising memory costs could push the expected Indian price above ₹85,000.
For context, the iQOO 15 currently sells in India for around ₹85,999, after launching at ₹72,999.
If the iQOO 16 crosses the ₹85,000 mark, it would enter a much more competitive premium segment, where camera performance, display technology and overall software experience could matter just as much as raw specifications.
For now, the triple-50MP camera setup, periscope telephoto and huge battery make the iQOO 16 particularly interesting on paper. But with the company yet to officially confirm the phone, buyers will have to wait for iQOO’s announcement before treating these specifications as final.
