Poco M8x 5G India Launch on August 21: India’s First Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Phone Is Coming Price Could Surprise You
Poco has confirmed the M8x 5G launch date, processor and key performance details, while an expected price below ₹20,000 could make this new smartphone a serious contender in the budget 5G segment.
Poco is gearing up to expand its M8 series in India with the new Poco M8x 5G, and the company is putting performance at the centre of its pitch. The smartphone will officially launch in India on August 21 at 12pm IST and will be sold through Flipkart.
The biggest talking point is sitting under the hood. Poco has confirmed that the M8x 5G will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, making it the first smartphone in India to launch with the newly introduced chipset.
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 was introduced in India by Qualcomm in May, alongside the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5. With the M8x 5G, Poco appears to be targeting buyers who want stronger performance without moving into the premium smartphone price range.
Poco M8x 5G performance claims revealed
Poco is making some ambitious claims about the phone’s performance. According to the company, the Poco M8x 5G can cross 650,000 points on AnTuTu, suggesting that performance will be one of its major selling points.
The smartphone will support LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. Poco has also confirmed a total of 12GB RAM, including 6GB of virtual RAM expansion.
That combination could help the phone handle everyday multitasking and gaming more smoothly, although real-world performance will ultimately depend on software optimisation and sustained thermal performance.
Three-part cooling system could be a major highlight
Poco is also paying considerable attention to heat management.
The M8x 5G features a three-part cooling system comprising a 12,439 sq. mm graphite layer, a 1,924 sq. mm copper foil layer and 3.5W thermal gel.
Poco claims the device has been optimised to maintain a smooth experience for up to 48 months. While such a claim will need to be tested in real-world usage, the focus on cooling suggests the company wants the phone to appeal particularly to performance-conscious users.
Poco M8x 5G expected specifications
Poco has not yet revealed the complete specifications of the smartphone. However, previous reports have suggested that the M8x 5G could feature a large 6.9-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The base variant is reportedly expected to come with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage.

On the battery front, the smartphone could pack a substantial 6,000mAh battery, paired with support for 33W wired charging.
These specifications, if confirmed, would give the M8x 5G a fairly straightforward pitch: a large display, big battery and performance-focused hardware at a competitive price.
Poco M8x 5G price in India: What to expect?
Poco has not announced the official price yet, but a recent tip suggests that the Poco M8x 5G could be priced below ₹20,000 in India.

If that turns out to be accurate, the phone would slot neatly between existing models in Poco’s M8 family.
For comparison, the Poco M8 5G debuted at ₹18,999, while the Poco M8 Power 5G starts at ₹24,999. The M8x 5G could therefore become an interesting middle option for buyers who want more performance without spending close to ₹25,000.
Launch date, time and availability
The wait is almost over. The Poco M8x 5G will launch in India on August 21 at 12pm IST.
The smartphone will be available through Flipkart, with the launch expected to reveal the remaining specifications, official configurations and, most importantly, the final price.
With the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset, a large battery and an unusually detailed cooling setup, Poco is clearly betting that performance will be the M8x 5G’s biggest weapon.
The only missing piece is the price. If Poco manages to keep the phone comfortably below ₹20,000, the M8x 5G could have a much bigger impact on India’s fiercely competitive 5G smartphone market than its name initially suggests.
