FIR demanded against Sanjay Leela Bhansali after on-Set death in ‘Love & War’; AICWA seeks ₹1 Crore compensation for Family

Mumbai: A major controversy has erupted in the Indian film industry after the tragic death of a crew member on the set of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film ‘Love & War’, prompting the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) to demand strict legal action and compensation for the victim’s family.

The association has called for an FIR to be registered against director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the production house, and others responsible, following the death of carpenter Chandradhari Singh Yadav, who reportedly died during filming on June 17 at a studio near Film City, Mumbai.

According to reports, the 42-year-old technician was working on set when he suffered a fatal incident, while a few other crew members were also injured.

The incident has triggered serious concern across the industry, with AICWA writing to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, demanding a high-level inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

In its letter, the association has urged authorities to investigate possible negligence and has sought charges including culpable homicide, depending on the findings of the probe.

AICWA has also demanded a compensation package of ₹1 crore for the deceased worker’s family, along with long-term financial support for his wife and two young daughters. The association has further requested employment assistance for the widow and educational support for the children.

The organisation has alleged that basic safety protocols were not adequately enforced on the set of Love & War, despite it being a high-profile production featuring stars such as Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal.

It has also called for an immediate halt in filming at the location until a full safety audit is conducted to ensure compliance with workplace safety standards.

Additionally, AICWA has raised broader concerns about working conditions in the film industry, claiming that long working hours and inadequate safety measures continue to put crew members at risk on large productions.

The association has cited previous incidents on film sets and demanded a transparent investigation into past and present on-set accidents.

As of now, neither Bhansali nor the producers of Love & War have issued a detailed public response to the allegations or the demands made by AICWA.

The matter remains under scrutiny as pressure mounts for accountability and improved safety standards in the entertainment industry.
