Irumudi OTT release: Where will Ravi Teja’s ₹200 crore blockbuster stream online? September date reportedly under discussion…
Ravi Teja’s Irumudi continues its successful theatrical run after releasing on August 21. Netflix has reportedly acquired the digital rights, but neither the streaming platform nor the makers have officially confirmed the OTT premiere date yet.
After making waves at the box office, Ravi Teja’s Irumudi is now generating another big question among fans — when and where can they watch the film online?
The Telugu action-family drama, directed by Shiva Nirvana, arrived in cinemas on August 21, 2026, and has emerged as a major commercial success for Ravi Teja. With its theatrical run continuing, attention has naturally started shifting towards the film’s OTT release.
Reports suggest that Netflix has secured the post-theatrical digital streaming rights to Irumudi. However, as of now, neither Netflix nor the filmmakers have officially announced a confirmed streaming date.
Irumudi OTT release date: When could it arrive?
This is where things get interesting.
Some reports have pointed towards September 18, 2026, as a possible streaming date, which would give Irumudi roughly a four-week theatrical window.
However, that date should not yet be treated as officially confirmed.
A more recent report notes that the film’s strong theatrical performance may affect its digital-release plans, with speculation that its OTT arrival could potentially be delayed.
For viewers waiting to watch Irumudi from home, the safest takeaway is therefore simple: Netflix is reportedly the streaming destination, while the exact premiere date remains awaited from the makers or platform.
Irumudi crosses a massive box-office milestone
The uncertainty surrounding its OTT release comes at a time when Irumudi is enjoying an impressive theatrical run.
According to Mythri Movie Makers, the film has crossed the ₹200 crore worldwide gross milestone, making it a significant success in Ravi Teja’s career.
Separately, box-office tracking figures cited for Day 13 put the movie at approximately ₹146.15 crore India net, with an India gross of around ₹169.80 crore and overseas earnings of approximately ₹21.80 crore.
Those numbers help explain why the filmmakers may have little reason to rush the movie onto streaming while audiences are still turning up at theatres.
What is Irumudi about?
At its heart, Irumudi is an emotional story about a troubled father and his daughter.
Ravi Teja plays Trinath, an alcoholic father living with his wife and young daughter. His life begins to change when he takes up the 41-day Ayyappa Deeksha, requiring him to give up alcohol and follow strict discipline.
What initially appears to be a spiritual commitment gradually forces the character to confront his own flaws and a violent past. The film uses the devotional backdrop to explore fatherhood, redemption, family relationships and personal transformation.
Director Shiva Nirvana has clarified that the story is not specifically about the Sabarimala temple. Instead, the Ayyappa Deeksha becomes a dramatic device through which Ravi Teja’s flawed protagonist is forced to change his lifestyle and confront himself.

Who stars in Irumudi?
Alongside Ravi Teja, the film features Priya Bhavani Shankar, Baby Nakshatra, Swasika Vijay, Sai Kumar, Ajay Ghosh, Rajkumar Kasireddy, Ramesh Indira and several other performers.
Baby Nakshatra’s character plays a particularly important role in the father-daughter storyline, while Shiva Nirvana had described the relationship between the two as central to the film before its theatrical release.
Ravi Teja scores a much-needed theatrical success

The commercial response to Irumudi has also made the film particularly significant for Ravi Teja.
After a run of films that struggled to deliver comparable box-office results, Irumudi has been widely viewed as an important comeback for the actor. Its mix of family emotions, action and devotional elements appears to have connected with audiences.
For now, though, fans hoping to stream the movie will have to wait a little longer.
Netflix remains the reported OTT home for Irumudi, and September 18 has surfaced in reports as a possible date — but until Netflix or the filmmakers make an official announcement, the final streaming date remains unconfirmed.
