Made-in-India MINI countryman C set for launch tomorrow; Luxury SUV could become Brand’s most affordable offering
With a new petrol engine, premium interiors, and local production, the upcoming MINI Countryman C aims to make luxury compact SUVs more accessible in India.
British luxury carmaker MINI is gearing up to launch the all-new Made-in-India MINI Countryman C tomorrow, expanding its premium SUV lineup with what could become one of the brand’s most accessible offerings in the Indian market.
The new Countryman C is expected to sit below the fully electric Countryman and target buyers looking for a compact luxury SUV with premium styling, practical performance, and a more approachable price tag.
With local manufacturing playing a key role in pricing strategy, MINI appears ready to intensify competition against rivals like the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA, and Audi Q3.
Familiar MINI Styling With a Fresh Twist
The upcoming MINI Countryman C is expected to carry forward much of the design language seen on the electric Countryman while introducing subtle changes to suit its petrol-powered identity.
The SUV will reportedly feature MINI’s signature bold stance along with a contrasting black roof, blacked-out ORVMs, darkened pillars, and rugged wheel arch cladding that add to its sporty urban appeal.
The front bumper and grille design could see slight modifications compared to the electric version, helping differentiate the combustion-engine model visually.
MINI is also expected to offer the SUV in multiple vibrant colour options, including:
- British Racing Green
- Smokey Green
- Nanuq White
- Chilli Red
- Slate Blue
Premium Cabin With Signature MINI Elements
Inside, the Countryman C is expected to blend premium finishes with MINI’s playful and modern design philosophy.
Reports suggest the cabin will feature a combination of leather and fabric upholstery, with brown leather seats and a textured fabric dashboard finish.
One of the biggest highlights remains MINI’s iconic circular OLED infotainment display, which has become a signature design element in the brand’s latest generation models.
Other expected features include:
- Panoramic sunroof
- Head-up display
- Cruise control
- Multi-function steering wheel
- Physical climate control buttons
- Vertically positioned AC vents
- Power windows
- MINI-branded seats
The SUV is likely to focus heavily on delivering a premium urban driving experience while maintaining MINI’s quirky design identity.
Engine and Performance Expectations
Powering the MINI Countryman C is expected to be a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing around 134 bhp and 230 Nm of torque.
The engine will reportedly be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, promising smoother gear shifts and refined city performance.
While this setup is less aggressive than the high-performance John Cooper Works (JCW) All4 variant, it is expected to prioritise comfort, efficiency, and practicality for everyday driving.

For comparison, the JCW All4 produces nearly 296 bhp and 400 Nm of torque, making it the enthusiast-focused option within the lineup.
MINI Bets Big on Local Manufacturing
One of the most important aspects of the new Countryman C is its local assembly in India.

By manufacturing the SUV domestically, MINI is expected to significantly reduce costs compared to fully imported models, potentially making the Countryman C one of the most competitively priced vehicles in the brand’s portfolio.
This move also reflects a growing trend among luxury carmakers who are increasingly using local production to expand their reach in India’s premium car market.
A Strategic Launch for MINI India
The launch of the Countryman C comes at a time when demand for compact luxury SUVs continues to rise rapidly in India.
Buyers are increasingly looking for vehicles that combine premium features, brand value, practicality, and modern technology without entering ultra-luxury price territory.
With the Countryman C, MINI appears to be positioning itself as a stylish yet practical alternative in the growing luxury compact SUV segment.
All eyes are now on tomorrow’s official launch, where pricing and complete specifications will finally be revealed.
