Pooja Hegde added a special moment to her calendar this Independence Day weekend as she attended the India Day Parade in New York as the Guest of Honour on August 16.

The actor described the occasion as a deeply meaningful experience, expressing her pride at witnessing the Indian diaspora come together to celebrate the country far from home.

Sharing pictures from the event, Pooja wrote that it was “truly an honour and a matter of immense pride.” She reflected on the atmosphere in New York, saying there was something surreal about seeing the city’s streets come alive with Indians proudly celebrating India and their connection to home.

Pooja also expressed her gratitude to the Federation of Indian Associations, which selected her as the Guest of Honour for the parade.

Thanking the organisers and officials in New York, the actor described the opportunity as a privilege and said the memory was one she would carry with her for a long time.

She ended her message with “Jai Hind”, adding an emotional touch to her Independence Day celebrations.

The actor shared several photographs from the event on social media. In the pictures, Pooja Hegde can be seen smiling while holding the Indian national flag during the celebrations.

She also posed alongside an officer from the NYPD Counterterrorism Bureau, giving the event another memorable moment.

The India Day Parade is widely regarded as one of the largest public celebrations of Indian Independence Day outside India, bringing together members of the Indian-American community and people from different backgrounds to celebrate Indian culture, heritage and national pride.

For Pooja, being part of the celebration added a personal connection to the occasion, particularly as she witnessed the Indian diaspora coming together in the heart of New York City.

What’s next for Pooja Hegde?

On the professional front, Pooja Hegde was most recently seen alongside Vijay in Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth. The film has reportedly crossed the ₹300 crore mark worldwide at the box office.

The movie is also scheduled to arrive on ZEE5 on August 21, giving audiences another opportunity to watch the film from home.

Pooja has several projects lined up, including Kanchana 4, written and directed by Raghava Lawrence, who also stars in the lead role. The upcoming film is part of the popular Kanchana franchise and also features Nora Fatehi, Swaksha Iyer, Devadarshini and Kamalesh Jagan.

She will also be seen in Sri Sri, directed by Ravi Nelakuditi, where she shares the screen with Dulquer Salmaan.
