Mumbai: Actor Riteish Deshmukh found himself at the center of a tense moment during the launch event of Netflix’s upcoming reality show ‘Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa’ after a reporter made a controversial remark involving Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt.

The incident unfolded on Monday during the grand unveiling of the reality series in Mumbai, where Riteish appeared alongside filmmaker Farah Khan, producer Ekta Kapoor, and Monika Shergill, Vice President of Content at Netflix India.

While interacting with the media, a journalist asked Riteish whether he would like to see Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt participate as contestants on the show. The question referenced the actors’ past legal troubles and suggested that both had enough experience of being inside a “lock up.”

The unexpected comment immediately changed the atmosphere of the event, with Riteish visibly displeased by the line of questioning.

Responding to the journalist, the actor said, “Sabse pehle mujhe nahin lagta hai ki aapke sawal ka jawab deke main usko koi dignity dena chahunga.” (First of all, I don’t think I’d like to dignify your question by answering it.)

Explaining his role as host, Riteish said, “I’ll not bring them as my duty is to host. And as a host, I don’t know about the inmates that would appear on the show. Jo bhi guests aate hai Lock Upp mein, unse hum baat karte hai.”

He emphasized that contestant selection is handled by the show’s creators and producers, while his involvement begins once participants enter the competition.
