Ram Charan praises Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar franchise, calling its ₹1800 crore success proof of its nationwide impact.

Actor Ram Charan has made headlines once again, this time not for his own blockbuster Peddi, but for his strong praise of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar franchise and its massive impact on Indian cinema.

Speaking at a recent summit, the RRR star reflected on how films with strong storytelling and emotional connection continue to pull audiences back into theatres — even after the challenges brought by the pandemic.

Ram Charan pointed out that cinema remains one of India’s most affordable and powerful forms of entertainment, but added a humorous twist while discussing the rising cost of theatre snacks.

“When there’s great cinema like KGF, Pushpa 2, Dhurandhar, Kantara, and RRR, people have come back to theatres,” he said.

He added, “After COVID, all of us were worried if audiences would return. In India, cinema is still the cheapest form of entertainment. You go with your family, watch a film, and discuss it together later. It’s a beautiful communal experience. Of course, if the popcorn rates come down a bit, it’ll be much better.”

His comment on popcorn prices quickly caught attention online, but it was his take on Dhurandhar that became the biggest talking point.

Ram Charan revealed that he had only recently watched the Aditya Dhar directorial on OTT and was deeply impressed by its execution.

Calling it “terrific, fantastic and phenomenal,” he said the film had everything falling perfectly into place — from storytelling to pacing.

But beyond cinematic praise, Ram Charan highlighted the film’s larger emotional and national appeal.

“The national integrity, like India first, is very important in our forthcoming films. It has brought the country together,” he said.

He also linked the film’s phenomenal box office numbers to public acceptance, arguing that collections are ultimately a reflection of how strongly audiences connect with a story.

“It crossed ₹1800 crore. Why would this happen? Box office numbers are nothing but the number of people who accepted it and came to theatres. If the people of India are owning it and want this to happen, why not? It’s doing good for our nation,” Ram said.

The Dhurandhar franchise, fronted by Ranveer Singh, has become one of the biggest box office phenomena in recent years. The first film, released in December 2025, reportedly earned over ₹1300 crore worldwide, while its sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, crossed a staggering ₹1800 crore globally.

The films follow the story of Hamza, also known as Jaskirat Singh Rangi, an undercover operative sent deep into Pakistan’s Lyari region to infiltrate terror networks.

The franchise is now among the highest-grossing Hindi film series, second only to Dangal.

Meanwhile, Ram Charan’s own latest release, Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana and co-starring Janhvi Kapoor, is also enjoying a successful theatrical run. Released on June 4, the sports drama has earned ₹235 crore net in India and ₹331 crore worldwide within just 19 days.

With both stars delivering massive box office numbers, Indian cinema seems to be entering a phase where content, scale, and emotional connection are driving audiences back to the big screen stronger than ever.
