“Turbo SUV under ₹7.89 lakh!” Renault Kiger gets 4 new variants, shakes up compact SUV battle in India
Renault expands Kiger lineup with new Evolution+ and Techno trims, making turbo petrol power more accessible than ever in the sub-4m SUV segment.
The Indian compact SUV market just got more competitive. Renault has quietly strengthened its position by expanding the Kiger SUV lineup with four new variants, bringing a sharper focus on affordability, features, and turbocharged performance.
With this update, Renault is clearly aiming to make the Kiger more appealing in a segment already crowded with strong contenders like the Tata Punch, Hyundai Exter, and Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
Turbo power now more accessible
One of the biggest highlights of the update is the revised pricing of the turbo-petrol range.
The Renault Kiger turbo-petrol now starts at ₹7.89 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the most affordable turbo variant in the lineup so far.
At the same time, the new Evolution+ variant has been introduced at a starting price of ₹6.99 lakh (ex-showroom), bridging the gap between entry-level buyers and higher trims.
This move is being seen as Renault’s attempt to widen its customer base in a highly price-sensitive market like India, where even a small price difference can influence buying decisions.
What’s new in the Evolution+ variant?
The newly introduced Evolution+ trim brings several features that were earlier reserved for higher variants. These include:
- Smart access card with push-button start/stop
- Automatic climate control
- Wireless smartphone connectivity
- Height-adjustable driver seat
- Fabric upholstery
These additions make the Kiger feel more premium without pushing it into a significantly higher price bracket.

More turbo options, wider lineup
Renault has also expanded its turbo-petrol portfolio significantly. The number of turbo variants has now increased from three to five, giving buyers more flexibility based on budget and preference.
Similarly, the naturally aspirated petrol lineup has grown from six to eight variants, offering more combinations across manual and AMT options.
The broader strategy seems clear—more choices, more flexibility, and stronger competition against segment leaders.
Pricing breakdown
Here is how the revised Renault Kiger lineup now stands:
Turbo-petrol manual:
₹7.89 lakh – ₹9.35 lakh (ex-showroom)
Turbo-CVT:
₹9.35 lakh – ₹10.35 lakh (ex-showroom)
Naturally aspirated petrol:
- Starting: ₹5.81 lakh (Authentic manual)
- Top-end: ₹8.45 lakh (Emotion manual)
AMT variants:
₹6.99 lakh – ₹8.05 lakh (ex-showroom)

Competing in a crowded battlefield
The Kiger continues to lock horns with some of the most aggressive players in India’s compact SUV space, including:
- Tata Punch
- Hyundai Exter
- Nissan Magnite
- Maruti Suzuki Fronx
- Toyota Taisor
Each of these models is fighting hard on pricing, features, and fuel efficiency—making this segment one of the most dynamic in the Indian auto market.
Why this update matters
India’s compact SUV segment is no longer just about entry-level mobility—it has become a battleground for value-packed features and turbo performance.
By introducing new variants and lowering the entry point for turbo engines, Renault is clearly trying to shift perception: the Kiger is no longer just a budget SUV, but a more versatile offering for both city drivers and performance seekers.
