Skoda Unveils Its Most Ambitious EV Yet: Peaq Promises 647km Range, Luxury Features and a Possible India Launch
The new flagship electric SUV from Skoda packs premium technology, a massive battery and class-leading space. Could this be the Czech automaker’s most exciting offering for India?
The race to dominate the global electric vehicle market has intensified, and Skoda Auto has just made a bold statement. The Czech carmaker has officially unveiled the all-new Skoda Peaq, its flagship electric SUV that combines long-range capability, futuristic technology and premium comfort in one package.
Positioned above the brand’s existing electric lineup, which includes the Skoda Epiq, Skoda Elroq and Skoda Enyaq, the Peaq is designed to compete directly with global electric SUV heavyweights such as the Hyundai Ioniq 9, Kia EV9 and Volvo EX90.
More importantly for Indian buyers, Skoda is actively evaluating the Peaq for the Indian market, raising hopes that the premium electric SUV could eventually arrive on local roads.
A Bold New Design Language
The Peaq is only the second Skoda model to embrace the company’s latest Modern Solid design philosophy. The front fascia features a sleek gloss-black “Tech Deck” panel, replacing the traditional grille typically seen on combustion-engine vehicles.
Sharp T-shaped Matrix LED headlamps, illuminated accents and sculpted bodywork give the SUV a futuristic appearance. Flush door handles, aerodynamic alloy wheels ranging from 19 to 21 inches and a clean side profile further enhance its premium appeal.
At the rear, slim LED tail-lamps mirror the front design signature, while a roof spoiler and sculpted bumper contribute to improved aerodynamics and efficiency.
One standout feature is practicality. With the third-row seats folded, the Peaq offers a massive 935-litre luggage compartment, making it the largest boot ever seen in a Skoda vehicle.
A Tech-Loaded Cabin Designed for Comfort
Inside, the Peaq takes a major leap forward in technology and luxury.

The SUV features a 13.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a heated two-spoke steering wheel carrying the Skoda branding. Unlike many modern EVs that rely entirely on touch controls, Skoda has retained several physical buttons and climate controls for ease of use.
Premium features include a 16-speaker Sonos sound system, dual wireless smartphone charging pads, a panoramic sunroof and USB charging ports available across all three seating rows.
Skoda is also introducing a digital key system that allows owners to unlock and start the vehicle using a smartphone or smartwatch.
Customers looking for extra comfort can opt for the Relax Package, which includes AGR-certified massage seats, adjustable leg supports, seat cushions and wellness-focused relaxation programmes designed for long journeys.
Safety Gets a Significant Upgrade
Safety remains a major focus for the Peaq.
The electric SUV comes equipped with 10 airbags, a 360-degree camera, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and automated parking technology.
Another interesting innovation is the introduction of integrated washer jets within the wiper assembly—a first-ever feature for a Skoda vehicle.
Up to 647km Range on a Single Charge
The biggest talking point, however, is the Peaq’s impressive driving range.
The SUV will be available in three variants:

Peaq 60
- 63kWh battery pack
- Rear-wheel-drive setup
- 204hp electric motor
- Claimed range of 459km
- 0-100kmph in 8.6 seconds
Peaq 90
- 91kWh battery pack
- Rear-wheel-drive configuration
- 286hp output
- Claimed range of up to 647km
- 0-100kmph in 7.1 seconds
Peaq 90x
- 91kWh battery pack
- Dual-motor all-wheel-drive system
- 299hp power output
- Claimed range of 613km
- 0-100kmph in just 6.7 seconds
Fast-charging capabilities are equally impressive. The larger battery can charge from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in only 28 minutes using a 199kW DC fast charger, while the smaller battery achieves the same charging level in 27 minutes via a 160kW charger.
India Launch Under Consideration
For Indian EV enthusiasts, the biggest development is Skoda’s interest in bringing the Peaq to the country.
Ashish Gupta, Brand Director of Skoda Auto India, has previously indicated the company’s intention to introduce premium, high-specification electric vehicles in India. The Peaq could become the brand’s flagship EV offering and serve as a technology showcase for Skoda’s future electric ambitions in the country.
While an official launch timeline has not yet been confirmed, the Peaq’s blend of luxury, technology and long-range capability could make it a strong contender in India’s emerging premium EV segment.
As competition in the electric SUV space heats up, the Skoda Peaq appears ready to challenge established rivals and redefine what buyers can expect from a flagship electric vehicle.
