‘DC’ Box Office Day 11: Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Film Slows Down on Monday, But Is Now Nearing Rs 87 Crore Worldwide

After a strong second weekend, Arun Matheswaran’s Tamil action drama recorded an expected weekday dip but continues to hold its ground as the worldwide total moves closer to the Rs 90 crore milestone.

Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi’s DC continues its theatrical run, with the film’s worldwide gross nearing the Rs 90 crore mark after Day 11.

DC may have entered the slower phase of its theatrical journey, but the Lokesh Kanagaraj-led Tamil action drama is still maintaining a respectable run at the box office.

After a strong second weekend, the film witnessed the expected drop on its second Monday. However, the latest numbers suggest that audiences have not completely moved on, with the film continuing to attract viewers in India and overseas.

According to estimates reported by Sacnilk, DC collected around Rs 2 crore net in India on Day 11, its second Monday. The film was screened across approximately 2,165 shows.

The Monday figure is considerably lower than the collections recorded over the weekend. DC earned an estimated Rs 5.50 crore on its second Saturday and around Rs 4.50 crore on Sunday.

With the latest addition, the film’s estimated India net collection has reached Rs 56.76 crore, while its India gross stands at approximately Rs 65.35 crore.

The film also continued to earn from international markets. DC reportedly added around Rs 25 lakh from overseas markets on Day 11, taking its overseas gross to approximately Rs 21.50 crore.

As a result, the film’s estimated worldwide gross has climbed to around Rs 86.85 crore.

Second Monday Brings Expected Drop

The Day 11 numbers highlight the normal weekday slowdown that follows a second weekend.

DC collected approximately Rs 5.50 crore on Day 9, followed by Rs 4.50 crore on Day 10. The figure subsequently fell to Rs 2 crore on Monday.

While the drop is significant, it is not necessarily a worrying sign for a film already in its second week.

The bigger takeaway is that DC has managed to remain in theatres beyond its opening week and continued adding meaningful numbers to its overall total.

The film reportedly collected around Rs 41.90 crore net in India during its first seven days, with its second-week performance providing an additional boost.

Tamil Version Continues to Lead

The Tamil version remains the primary contributor to the film’s domestic business, while the Telugu and Hindi versions have also added to its overall earnings.

The film’s performance has been helped by its positioning as a Tamil action drama as well as the curiosity surrounding Lokesh Kanagaraj, who makes his acting debut in the film.

Directed by Arun Matheswaran, DC features Lokesh as Devadas, with Wamiqa Gabbi playing a prominent role.

The film’s music has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander, adding another major name from the Tamil film industry to the project.

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Acting Debut Adds to the Buzz

One of the biggest talking points surrounding DC has been Lokesh Kanagaraj’s transition from filmmaker to actor.

Known for directing films such as Kaithi, Vikram and Leo, Lokesh has built a strong identity as an action filmmaker. His decision to appear in front of the camera naturally created additional curiosity among Tamil cinema audiences.

The film’s distinctive filmmaking style, action sequences, performances and technical presentation have also contributed to its theatrical appeal.

For Lokesh, the project represents an unusual career move stepping away from the director’s chair and allowing audiences to judge him as a performer.

Can DC Cross Rs 90 Crore Worldwide?

With the worldwide gross estimated at Rs 86.85 crore, DC is now within touching distance of the Rs 90 crore milestone.

The key question will be whether the film can maintain enough momentum during the remaining weekdays to make that jump before the end of its second week.

The second Monday slowdown is expected, but the film’s strong weekend performance provides some encouragement.

For now, DC remains on course for a solid theatrical run, with its worldwide collection steadily approaching the Rs 90 crore mark.

Whether it can sustain its momentum through the coming days will determine just how far the Arun Matheswaran directorial can ultimately go.
