Sunny Deol is said to have charged approximately ₹60 crore for his role in the film, making him reportedly the highest-paid member of the cast.

Preity Zinta reportedly gets ₹10 crore

The film also marks Preity Zinta’s return to a substantial leading role on the big screen after a considerable absence.

According to the reported figures, Preity has been paid around ₹10 crore for her role.

The reunion is particularly significant because Sunny and Preity have previously shared the screen in films including The Hero: Love Story of a Spy, Farz and Bhaiaji Superhit.

The film draws inspiration from playwright Asghar Wajahat’s acclaimed Urdu play Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya O Jamyai Nai.

Set in Lahore shortly after the 1947 Partition, the story focuses on the human consequences of one of the most traumatic events in the subcontinent’s history.

At the centre of the narrative is a Muslim family that moves into a mansion previously occupied by a Hindu family.

However, they soon discover that an elderly Hindu woman has remained behind.

Rajkumar Santoshi is working with Sunny Deol again, bringing the actor-director partnership back to the big screen.

The film has been backed by Aamir Khan Productions, with Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit serving as producers.

Adding further prestige to the project, AR Rahman has composed the music, while celebrated lyricist Javed Akhtar has written the lyrics.
