Salman Khan is reportedly set to headline a superhero film by Raj & DK, with Mythri Movie Makers said to be among the production houses interested in backing the project.

Salman Khan could be heading into superhero territory with one of India’s most sought-after filmmaker duos.

According to a report by Deccan Chronicle, the superstar is set to headline a superhero film being developed by Raj & DK, with leading Telugu production house Mythri Movie Makers reportedly emerging as a strong contender to bankroll the ambitious project.

The film is currently said to be in the pre-production stage, with shooting expected to begin next year. However, the project has not yet received an official announcement, meaning details surrounding its plot, supporting cast, budget and release timeline remain under wraps.

Salman Khan and Raj & DK — an unexpected combination

The reported collaboration brings together two very different cinematic identities.

Salman Khan is one of Hindi cinema’s biggest commercial stars, known for action-heavy entertainers and larger-than-life characters.

Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K., meanwhile, have developed a reputation for combining action, humour, suspense and unconventional storytelling through projects such as The Family Man, Farzi and Guns & Gulaabs.

A superhero film from the duo starring Salman could therefore be markedly different from the conventional superhero template.

Rather than simply relying on spectacle, the project could potentially combine Raj & DK’s distinctive storytelling style with Salman’s established mass appeal.

Mythri Movie Makers reportedly wants in

The production side of the project is equally interesting.

Mythri Movie Makers, one of Telugu cinema’s prominent production banners, is reportedly among the frontrunners to finance the film.

The banner has been steadily expanding beyond its traditional Telugu-language base and has increasingly pursued projects designed to reach audiences across India.

Its Hindi debut with Jaat, starring Sunny Deol, marked an important step in that expansion.

A collaboration with Salman Khan would take that strategy considerably further.

Another production house is also reportedly competing

Mythri Movie Makers is reportedly not the only company interested in the project.

According to the report, another production house is also said to be competing for co-production rights.

However, neither the reported partnership nor the identity of the other interested banner has been officially confirmed.

That means the final production arrangement could still change before the project formally goes on floors.

Salman has another big action film first

Before beginning work on the Raj & DK superhero project, Salman Khan is expected to complete his upcoming action entertainer with filmmaker Vamshi Paidipally.

The film is being produced by Dil Raju and is expected to be another major commercial project for the actor.

Once that commitment is completed, the Raj & DK superhero film could become one of the biggest projects on Salman’s upcoming slate.

Mythri’s expanding pan-India ambitions

For Mythri Movie Makers, bringing Salman Khan into its portfolio would represent another major step towards becoming a truly pan-India production house.

The banner has already worked with several of Telugu cinema’s biggest names, including Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu, Ram Charan and Allu Arjun.

It has also expanded its reach through collaborations outside Telugu cinema, including Ajith Kumar’s Good Bad Ugly.

A Salman Khan-led superhero film would provide the company with an opportunity to deepen its presence in the Hindi market while simultaneously leveraging the nationwide appeal of one of India’s biggest stars.

A superhero film worth watching?

The reported project has all the ingredients of a major pan-India event: a superstar lead, a filmmaker duo known for unconventional genre storytelling and a production house with increasingly national ambitions.

But there is still a long road ahead.

The Salman Khan–Raj & DK superhero film has yet to receive an official announcement, and its final producers, storyline, supporting cast and release date remain unknown.

If the reported collaboration does materialise, however, it could become one of the more intriguing Hindi-Telugu crossover projects currently in development.

For now, the question is not whether Salman Khan can carry a superhero film — it is what kind of superhero world Raj & DK are planning to build around him…
