‘This Is Amitabh Bachchan, please call back’: Abhinandan Lodha reveals 3 AM call that led to a ₹15 Crore ayodhya land deal

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan is admired not only for his legendary film career but also for his disciplined lifestyle and smart financial decisions. While the actor continues to work relentlessly even in his 80s, he has also built a reputation for making strategic investments across various sectors.

One such investment has now come into the spotlight after Abhinandan Lodha, Founder and Chairman of The House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL), revealed an interesting behind-the-scenes story about how Bachchan purchased land in Ayodhya.

Speaking at the HT Real Estate Summit, Lodha recalled receiving an unexpected phone call from the superstar at 3 a.m., a conversation that eventually resulted in a ₹15 crore property deal.

A Surprise Call From Amitabh Bachchan

Sharing the memorable incident, Abhinandan Lodha said he was in Australia in 2023 when his phone showed several missed calls along with a text message.

The message read:“This is Amitabh Bachchan, please call back when convenient.”

Lodha admitted he was taken aback after realizing the message had come directly from the legendary actor.

“I literally stood up and called him back,” he recalled during the event.

‘I Want to Buy Land in Ayodhya’

During the conversation, Amitabh Bachchan expressed his desire to own property in Ayodhya, citing his emotional connection to Uttar Pradesh.

According to Lodha, the actor said:“Abhinandan ji, main UP se hoon aur mujhe Ayodhya ji mein land leni hai.”
(I belong to Uttar Pradesh and I want to buy land in Ayodhya.)

Lodha assured Bachchan that his team would assist him in finding the right property.

The ₹15 Crore Transaction

Lodha further revealed that Amitabh Bachchan wanted to purchase approximately 15,000 square feet of land.

When the actor enquired about the price, Lodha initially hesitated.“How can I talk pricing with you?” he recalled telling Bachchan.

After estimating that the property would cost around ₹15 crore, Lodha said the veteran actor wasted no time.

According to him, Amitabh Bachchan transferred the entire ₹15 crore the very next day, completing the transaction swiftly.

Amitabh Bachchan’s Investment Philosophy

Over the years, Amitabh Bachchan has invested in several high-value assets, including real estate, commercial properties and businesses. His investment in Ayodhya came at a time when the city was witnessing rapid infrastructure development and growing interest from investors following major redevelopment projects.
