CJP Claims Abhijeet Dipke Detained Amid High-Voltage Protest in Delhi

New Delhi: Political tensions escalated in the national capital on Monday after the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) claimed that its leader Abhijeet Dipke was picked up by the Delhi Police from Jantar Mantar, where the party had been leading a protest march towards Parliament.

The development came as thousands of protesters gathered in Central Delhi, demanding attention to issues raised by the party and student groups. According to the CJP, Dipke was taken into police custody while attempting to participate in the march.

CJP spokesperson Saurav Das alleged that peaceful demonstrators were being targeted during the protest. In a statement shared on social media, he appealed to Members of Parliament to stand with students participating in the demonstration, claiming that police personnel had launched a forceful crackdown on protesters.

Heavy Security Blanket Covers Central Delhi

As crowds attempted to move towards Jantar Mantar and nearby high-security areas, security agencies intensified their presence across the city. Police and paramilitary personnel erected multiple barricades to stop protesters from entering restricted zones around Parliament, Shastri Bhawan, Parliament Street, Constitution Club, and other sensitive locations.

Officials confirmed that additional police personnel from neighbouring districts, along with reserve paramilitary companies, were deployed to maintain law and order as tensions continued to rise.

According to senior police officials, the objective was to ensure public safety and prevent any breach of security in the national capital.

Tear Gas Used as Protesters Push Barricades

The situation became tense after some protesters allegedly attempted to cross security barricades in an effort to reach Jantar Mantar. Security personnel responded by using tear gas shells near Shastri Bhawan to disperse the crowd and regain control of the situation.

Police officials maintained that extensive security arrangements had been planned in advance, with senior officers personally monitoring developments on the ground.

CJP Leaders Meet JP Nadda

Amid the demonstrations, CJP spokespersons Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka met Union Minister JP Nadda while the protest march was underway. Details of the discussion have not yet been made public, but the meeting came at a crucial moment as protests intensified outside.

Political observers believe the interaction reflects growing efforts to open channels of communication even as demonstrations continue on the streets.

Dipke Had Recently Ended Hunger Strike

The latest developments come only days after Abhijeet Dipke ended his indefinite hunger strike following appeals from activist Sonam Wangchuk and the father of Riya Thapa, a NEET aspirant who died by suicide.

Dipke had launched the fast after Wangchuk was hospitalised during his own prolonged hunger strike. According to the CJP, Riya Thapa’s father personally requested Dipke to end his fast so that he could actively lead the party’s march to Parliament.

He eventually concluded the hunger strike by drinking a glass of juice before joining preparations for Monday’s protest.

With protests continuing and security remaining on high alert across New Delhi, authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent any escalation. Meanwhile, the CJP has vowed to continue its campaign, insisting that its movement will remain peaceful despite the latest confrontation with police.

The incident has added another chapter to the ongoing political demonstrations in the capital, with both protesters and security agencies maintaining firm positions as events continue to unfold.
