Jaguar’s ‘Mind-blowing’ EV is almost here… Type 01 to break cover in october with 986 HP power

Jaguar is preparing to make one of the biggest comebacks in its history.

After months of teasers, debates, and intense public scrutiny, the British luxury carmaker has officially confirmed that the production version of its futuristic Type 01 electric grand tourer will make its world debut this October in New York.

The announcement comes nearly two years after Jaguar first showcased the bold Type 00 Concept in December 2024 a vehicle that sparked both excitement and criticism for its dramatic design and all-electric ambitions.

Now, the wait is almost over.

The timeline was confirmed by Jaguar Land Rover’s Chief Growth Officer Lennard Hoornik during the company’s 2026 Investor Day presentation, where he described the upcoming reveal as a “mind-blowing” launch event.

For Jaguar, this is more than just another car launch it’s a complete brand reset.

The year 2025 marked the end of the Jaguar F-Pace, the final model from the brand’s old lineup. With the Type 01, Jaguar is essentially rebuilding its identity from the ground up, this time with electrification at the heart of its strategy.

Interestingly, Hoornik admitted that the public response to the project has evolved over time. While early reactions to the concept were sharply divided, opinions have become more positive as excitement around the model has grown.

And the numbers behind this EV are enough to turn heads.

The production-spec Type 01 will be a large luxury GT car, stretching around 5.2 metres in length with a massive 3.2-metre wheelbase, giving it serious road presence.

It will ride on 23-inch alloy wheels and feature charging ports on both front fenders for easier access. One of the most talked-about design choices is the absence of a rear window a bold move Jaguar says will be balanced by an advanced camera-based visibility system.

Under the skin, the Type 01 will be powered by three electric motors, producing a staggering 986 horsepower and 1,300 Nm of torque.

That power will be fed by a massive 120kWh battery pack, capable of supporting ultra-fast 350kW charging.

Jaguar claims the EV will deliver an EPA-certified range of around 644 km, while under the more generous WLTP cycle, it could go up to 692 km on a single charge.

With breathtaking performance, futuristic styling, and a new all-electric philosophy, the Jaguar Type 01 could be one of the most important cars in the brand’s modern history.

Now, all eyes are on October to see whether Jaguar’s bold gamble will pay off.
