The new BMW i3 Neue Klasse electric sedan combines futuristic technology, premium luxury, and a claimed driving range of over 900 kilometres on a single charge.

BMW has taken another major step in its electric mobility journey by opening early reservations for the highly anticipated BMW i3 50 xDrive First Edition in the United Kingdom ahead of its official launch later this year.

The German luxury carmaker has confirmed that the new i3 Neue Klasse will serve as one of the most technologically advanced electric sedans in its lineup, combining long-range capability, premium features, and a completely new design philosophy.

Priced at £57,905 (approximately ₹72.27 lakh) in the UK, the First Edition variant sits at the top of the range. BMW has also confirmed a more affordable standard i3 50 xDrive model, which will start at £53,005 (around ₹66.15 lakh).

A New Era for BMW Electric Sedans

The BMW i3 Neue Klasse represents the next chapter in the evolution of the brand’s iconic 3 Series family. Unlike previous electric offerings, the new model introduces a fresh design language focused on simplicity, aerodynamics, and modern luxury.

The sedan features a long wheelbase, short overhangs, and a sleek silhouette that delivers a sporty yet elegant appearance. At the front, BMW’s signature kidney grille has been reimagined as an illuminated design element integrated with the headlamp setup, while newly designed taillights and muscular wheel arches enhance its road presence.

Industry reports suggest the electric sedan could arrive in India sometime between mid-2027 and late-2027, expanding BMW’s premium EV portfolio in the country.

Remarkable Range and Fast Charging Technology

One of the biggest highlights of the new i3 is its extraordinary driving range.

The standard BMW i3 50 xDrive is claimed to deliver a WLTP-certified range of up to 912.4 kilometres on a single charge, while the First Edition variant offers a range of approximately 906.6 kilometres.

Powering the sedan is a newly developed 108.7 kWh high-voltage battery pack featuring advanced cylindrical battery cells. The EV is built on an 800-volt electrical architecture, allowing ultra-fast charging capabilities.

BMW claims that when connected to a 400 kW DC fast charger, the vehicle can gain up to 423 kilometres of range in just 10 minutes, significantly reducing charging downtime for owners.

The model also supports bidirectional charging, enabling energy transfer between the vehicle and external devices or power systems.

Powerful Performance Meets Luxury

The i3 50 xDrive comes equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 462.5 bhp and 645 Nm of torque.

This setup allows the electric sedan to sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.7 seconds, placing it firmly among the performance-focused luxury EVs currently available globally.

Futuristic Interior and AI-Powered Technology

Inside, the i3 introduces BMW’s next-generation digital ecosystem powered by the new BMW Operating System X.

A standout feature is BMW Panoramic Vision, which projects key driving information across the lower portion of the windscreen. The system works alongside touch controls, voice commands, and haptic feedback technology.

BMW has also upgraded its Intelligent Personal Assistant using large language model technology, enabling more natural conversations between occupants and the vehicle. Drivers can control navigation, media, climate functions, and various vehicle settings through advanced voice interactions.

Optional Features and Driver Assistance

BMW is offering a wide range of optional upgrades, including heated rear seats, a panoramic glass roof, an electrically deployable tow bar, and access to BMW Digital Premium services.

Advanced assistance systems such as Parking Assistant Plus, Parking Assistant Professional, and Motorway Assistant will also be available for customers seeking enhanced convenience and safety.

With its combination of groundbreaking range, advanced charging technology, premium comfort, and futuristic digital features, the BMW i3 Neue Klasse is shaping up to be one of the most important electric vehicle launches for the German automaker in recent years.

As global competition in the luxury EV segment intensifies, BMW appears determined to set new benchmarks for both performance and practicality.
