The premium mid-size sedan segment in India is quietly preparing for a shake-up.

Skoda Auto is gearing up to introduce a refreshed version of its popular sedan, the Skoda Slavia, and early reports suggest this won’t just be a cosmetic touch-up—it will be a carefully layered upgrade aimed at keeping pace with rivals like the Hyundai Verna and Honda City.

Expected to arrive in India by late 2026, the Slavia facelift is already generating buzz among buyers who are debating whether to wait or go ahead with the current model.

A SHARPER LOOK WITH FAMILIAR BONES

Spy sightings and internal design cues suggest that the updated Slavia will retain its core silhouette but receive noticeable changes at the front and rear.

At the front, Skoda is likely to introduce a redesigned grille inspired by its updated Skoda Kushaq, along with sharper bumpers and a revised LED headlamp setup. A connected light bar across the nose—similar to what we’ve seen on the Skoda Kodiaq—is also being discussed in industry circles.

The rear is expected to receive refreshed tail-lamps and a redesigned bumper, possibly with illuminated branding elements.

While the changes will make the sedan look more modern, Skoda appears to be playing it safe by not altering the overall proportions or body structure.

Reports suggest that the 1.0 TSI variant could replace its current 6-speed torque converter automatic with a more modern 8-speed unit—similar to updates seen in the Skoda Kushaq.

Meanwhile, the 1.5 TSI is expected to continue with its 7-speed DSG gearbox, offering performance-focused buyers the same dual-clutch experience.

With added features, refreshed styling, and potential gearbox upgrades, a price revision looks almost inevitable.

The current Slavia is priced in the range of approximately ₹10 lakh to ₹18.19 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelifted version is expected to sit higher, especially in top variants.

This puts buyers in a familiar dilemma—buy now at a relatively stable price, or wait for a more refined but costlier version.
