Renault Kiger Gets a Big Update: New Affordable Turbo Variant and Manual Techno Trim Arrive… Here’s Why Buyers Are Excited
Renault expands the Kiger lineup in India with four new variants, bringing turbo performance, premium features, and a more affordable manual option to the compact SUV segment.
Renault India has refreshed its popular compact SUV, the Renault Kiger, by introducing four new variants aimed at making premium features and the turbo-petrol engine accessible to a wider range of buyers. The latest update also introduces a long-awaited manual gearbox option for the Techno Turbo variant, giving customers more flexibility while choosing their preferred configuration.
The expanded lineup is expected to strengthen the Kiger’s position in the highly competitive compact SUV segment, where value for money and feature-rich offerings continue to drive customer demand.
Evolution+ Variant Joins the Lineup
The biggest highlight of the update is the introduction of the new Evolution+ variant. Positioned above the Evolution trim, the new model is available with three different powertrain options:
- 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol with a 5-speed manual gearbox
- 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol with an AMT
- 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission
Priced between ₹6.99 lakh and ₹7.89 lakh (ex-showroom), the Evolution+ trim bridges the gap between affordability and premium features.
The naturally aspirated petrol engine delivers 71 bhp and 96 Nm of torque, while the turbocharged unit produces a more spirited 99 bhp and 160 Nm of torque, making it a suitable choice for buyers looking for stronger highway performance.

Premium Features at a Lower Price
One of the major attractions of the new Evolution+ variant is the inclusion of features that were previously reserved for higher trims.
Customers now get:
- Push-button start/stop
- Automatic climate control
- Driver’s seat height adjustment
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Premium light-embossed fabric upholstery
With the turbo-manual Evolution+ priced at ₹7.89 lakh, Renault claims it now offers one of the most affordable turbocharged compact SUVs in its segment.
Techno Turbo Now Available With Manual Gearbox
Another key update is the addition of a 5-speed manual gearbox to the Techno Turbo variant.
Earlier, buyers could only purchase the Techno trim with a CVT automatic transmission, limiting options for enthusiasts who preferred manual driving.
The newly introduced manual version carries an ex-showroom price of ₹8.45 lakh, making it approximately ₹90,000 cheaper than the CVT model. This allows buyers to enjoy the Techno variant’s premium equipment without paying extra for an automatic transmission.

Expanded Variant Lineup
With the latest additions, the Renault Kiger is now offered in the following variants:
- Authentic
- Evolution
- Evolution+
- Techno
- Emotion
The naturally aspirated petrol range has expanded from six to eight variants, while the turbo-petrol lineup has increased from three to five options, giving customers greater flexibility across different budgets.
The Kiger’s overall pricing now starts at ₹5.81 lakh for the base variant and goes up to ₹10.35 lakh (ex-showroom) for the fully-loaded Emotion CVT.
A Stronger Value Proposition
The latest updates underline Renault’s strategy of making premium technology and turbocharged performance more accessible to Indian buyers. By introducing additional variants at competitive prices, the company hopes to attract both first-time SUV buyers and customers looking for a feature-packed compact SUV without stretching their budget.
With more choices, better equipment, and a new manual turbo option, the refreshed Renault Kiger is expected to remain a strong contender in India’s fast-growing compact SUV market.
