Motorola is set to reveal its next premium smartphone at the Snapdragon Summit. The Signature 27 could bring a major camera upgrade, a new design and flagship-level performance to the Signature family.
The wait for Motorola’s next premium smartphone is almost over. The company has confirmed that the Motorola Signature 27 will be unveiled on September 22, 2026, coinciding with the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit. While Motorola has not yet revealed the complete specifications, its latest teasers have already given smartphone fans a few important clues about what is coming next.
The timing of the announcement is particularly interesting. Since the Signature 27 is being introduced alongside Qualcomm’s major Snapdragon event, expectations are high that the handset will feature one of the company’s latest flagship processors. However, the exact chipset has not yet been officially confirmed.
A new Signature phone with a familiar premium identity
The Signature range sits above Motorola’s Edge and G series in the company’s smartphone portfolio. The first Motorola Signature arrived in India earlier this year as a premium device, and the upcoming Signature 27 is expected to build on that formula with more powerful hardware and an upgraded camera system.
Motorola’s teaser shows a premium-looking handset with a distinctive rear panel and a large camera setup. The company has also highlighted Dolby Vision branding around the camera system, suggesting that imaging and video could be among the phone’s major selling points.
200MP camera could be the biggest upgrade
One of the most eye-catching details revealed in reports surrounding the Signature 27 is its 200MP rear camera. The teaser appears to show a large primary camera sensor, with reports linking the device to a 200MP LYTIA sensor.
If confirmed, this would represent a substantial change from the current Motorola Signature, which features a triple 50MP rear-camera system. However, Motorola has not yet published the complete camera specifications, so details such as the exact sensor, supporting lenses and optical zoom capabilities should be treated as reported information for now.
The phone is also expected to support Dolby Vision, continuing Motorola’s focus on premium video recording and display experiences.
Snapdragon processor is almost certain, but which one?
The September 22 announcement is taking place at the Snapdragon Summit, and Motorola’s teaser specifically references Snapdragon. That strongly points towards a Qualcomm processor for the Signature 27.
The exact processor, however, remains one of the biggest unanswered questions.
The current Motorola Signature uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, along with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Motorola’s official specifications confirm the existing phone’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 platform, 6.8-inch AMOLED display and 165Hz refresh rate.
For the Signature 27, reports are pointing towards a newer Snapdragon flagship platform, but the final chipset name should become clear at the September 22 event.
Two premium colours teased
Motorola has also teased two colour options for the Signature 27: Coal Smoke and Capulet Olive.
The Capulet Olive version appears to feature a textured or leather-like rear finish, while the phone continues the premium design approach associated with the original Signature. The exact materials and market-specific colour availability will depend on Motorola’s final announcement.
The design itself looks deliberately different from many conventional flagship smartphones, particularly around the rear camera module.
What about the display and battery?
Motorola has not yet confirmed the complete display and battery specifications of the Signature 27. However, the current Motorola Signature provides a useful reference point.
The existing model features a 6.8-inch Extreme AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate, 1.5K-class resolution and peak brightness of up to 6,200 nits. It also packs a 5,200mAh silicon-carbon battery, with support for 90W wired and up to 50W wireless charging.
The Signature 27 is expected to improve on some of these specifications, although Motorola has yet to confirm exactly how far the upgrades will go.
Motorola Signature already offers serious flagship hardware
The existing Motorola Signature entered India at ₹59,999 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. Higher configurations include 16GB RAM with 512GB storage and 1TB storage.
Its hardware includes a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, 50MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide camera, 50MP periscope telephoto camera, 5,200mAh battery, 90W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Motorola also promises up to seven years of software and security updates for the device.
That gives some context for what could be expected from the newer Signature 27, although the two phones should not be treated as identical until Motorola confirms the new model’s specifications.
When could Motorola Signature 27 arrive in India?
The big question for Indian buyers is not just the announcement date but when the phone will actually go on sale in India.
Motorola has been teasing a new premium phone through its India channels, while reports have linked those teasers to the Signature 27. The company has not yet announced a confirmed Indian retail date or price for the new model.
Based on the launch pattern of the original Signature, an India launch could follow the global announcement within weeks, potentially putting the phone in the country before the end of 2026. This remains an expectation rather than a confirmed launch schedule.
Price could move further into premium territory
Motorola has not revealed the Signature 27’s Indian price. The current Signature starts at ₹59,999, so the new model’s pricing will be closely watched if it arrives with a newer Snapdragon platform and a significantly upgraded camera system.
For now, the September 22 announcement is the date to watch. Motorola is expected to reveal the remaining details, including the processor, camera configuration, pricing and availability.
The Signature 27 has already created plenty of curiosity with its 200MP camera clues, premium finishes and Snapdragon connection. The bigger question is whether Motorola can turn those teasers into a meaningful upgrade over the first Signature—and Indian buyers may not have to wait too long to find out.
