Jaguar’s Boldest gamble Yet? Type 01 EV set for october debut with 986hp power and 692km range
After wiping its old lineup clean, Jaguar is ready to unveil the all-electric Type 01 — a luxury grand tourer that could redefine the brand’s future.
The Type 01 is not just another electric car in Jaguar’s lineup it represents an entirely new beginning for the iconic British brand.
In a dramatic shift, Jaguar has scrapped much of its previous lineup to make way for a fully electrified future, and the Type 01 will be the first major product to lead that transformation.
Positioned as a luxury electric grand tourer (GT), the Type 01 promises to blend extreme performance with premium comfort something Jaguar has long been known for.
Under the hood or rather beneath its sleek bodywork the Type 01 is expected to feature an advanced three-motor electric setup producing more than 986 horsepower. That puts it firmly in supercar territory, making it one of the most powerful EVs Jaguar has ever built.
Powering the machine will be a massive 120 kWh battery pack, which is expected to deliver an impressive 692 kilometres of driving range under the WLTP cycle, making it suitable for both spirited drives and long-distance touring.

The upcoming EV is being seen as a high-stakes move for Jaguar, especially as the brand attempts to reposition itself in a market increasingly dominated by electric luxury rivals.

With companies like Porsche, Tesla, and Mercedes-Benz pushing aggressively into premium EV territory, the Type 01 could determine Jaguar’s relevance in the next decade.
Industry experts believe Jaguar is aiming to move further upmarket, turning itself into an ultra-premium EV-only brand.
The October reveal in New York will likely offer the clearest picture yet of Jaguar’s design philosophy, technological ambition, and long-term electric strategy.
For Jaguar, the Type 01 isn’t just a car it’s a statement. And in many ways, it may be the company’s biggest gamble in decades.
