BMW X6 Launched in India: 530bhp V8 SUV Coupe With 4.3-Second Sprint
The all-new BMW X6 arrives in India with a powerful 530bhp V8 engine, aggressive styling, and coupe-inspired SUV design.

In a bold move for luxury performance enthusiasts, BMW India has officially launched the all-new BMW X6, bringing back one of the most iconic SUV coupes ever made. With a massive 530bhp twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, the latest X6 reclaims its place as one of the most powerful luxury SUVs in its segment.

Positioned above the BMW X5 in the brand’s portfolio, the new X6 enters India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), meaning it will be imported as a fully assembled model. Unlike some of its rivals, BMW is offering the X6 with a single but highly potent powertrain option.

At the heart of this muscular machine is a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine paired with a mild-hybrid system, delivering a staggering 530bhp. The SUV also comes equipped with all-wheel drive and rear-wheel steering, boosting both stability and agility despite its massive size.

Performance remains one of the X6’s strongest highlights. BMW claims the luxury coupe-SUV can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds, putting it in serious sports car territory despite being nearly five metres long.

Visually, the new X6 continues to carry its unmistakable bold road presence. It now gets a sportier makeover with 21-inch alloy wheels, aggressive M Sport detailing, and a sleeker coupe-like roofline that slopes sharply towards the rear a design language that the X6 originally pioneered years ago.

The new model was first previewed in India during the launch event of the BMW M440i, giving enthusiasts an early glimpse of what was coming.

In terms of competition, the X6 will go head-to-head with luxury rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, Porsche Cayenne Coupe, and Audi SQ8.

With demand for large petrol-powered performance SUVs growing steadily in India’s luxury segment, BMW’s decision to bring back the V8-powered X6 could prove to be a strategic masterstroke.

More than just a new launch, the X6 marks the return of the original SUV coupe — the car that started a trend the luxury auto world continues to chase.
