Samay Raina roasts Alia Bhatt Over cannes 2026 buzz on india’s got latent S2, Leaves audience in Splits
Alia Bhatt and Sharvari joined Samay Raina to promote their upcoming action thriller Alpha, but it was Samay’s sharp Cannes joke that stole the spotlight.
Comedian Samay Raina is back with the second season of his hit comedy reality show India’s Got Latent, and the opening episode has already become the talk of the internet.
The much-awaited Season 2 premiere, released on June 20, featured Bollywood stars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari as special guests. The duo appeared on the show to promote their upcoming action thriller Alpha, but it was Samay’s fearless humour that quickly grabbed everyone’s attention.
Known for his edgy comedy and spontaneous punchlines, Samay wasted no time in putting Alia in the spotlight. While introducing her, he praised her incredible journey in Bollywood, mentioning her National Award win, international fame, and appearances on some of the world’s biggest red carpets.
But then came the punchline that sent the room into laughter.
Referring to Alia’s recent Cannes Film Festival buzz, Samay joked, “Kahan Cannes, kahan Latent. But yahan cameras aap pe hai,” a witty remark that many saw as a playful jab at the actress’ earlier Cannes controversy.
For those unfamiliar, Alia had sparked online chatter during her appearance at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, where social media users claimed international photographers failed to recognise her and shifted their focus elsewhere on the red carpet. The viral chatter had put the actress under the spotlight for days.
Alia, however, handled the roast with grace and humour. Responding smartly, she joked that everyone should be grateful for all the laughs they’ve had because of Kapil Sharma.
Not one to miss an opportunity, Samay fired another playful shot, recalling their hosting stint at the SCREEN Awards 2026 and teasing her about her comic timing. The banter between the two kept the atmosphere light and entertaining, with Sharvari also joining in on the fun.

In another funny moment, Samay introduced Sharvari as “Alia’s plus one,” adding to the episode’s lively energy.
Meanwhile, India’s Got Latent Season 2 is taking an unusual route by releasing simultaneously on both Netflix and YouTube. The dual-platform strategy ensures fans can either enjoy an ad-free experience on Netflix or interact through YouTube’s live comment culture.

Samay has confirmed that the original spirit of the show remains untouched, promising fans the same raw, no-filter humour and unedited content that made the first season a viral success.
On the film front, Alpha marks a major milestone for the Yash Raj Films Spy Universe as its first female-led action thriller. Directed by Shiv Rawail, the film stars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in lead roles.
The movie follows Sita, played by Alia, a highly trained assassin raised for dangerous missions. Sharvari plays another skilled agent who joins forces with her in a high-stakes battle against a deadly enemy.
The film also stars Anil Kapoor in a crucial role, while Bobby Deol plays the antagonist, Fateh. Adding to the excitement, Hrithik Roshan will make a special appearance as Major Kabir Dhaliwal, strengthening Alpha’s connection to the larger YRF Spy Universe.
With Alpha set for a worldwide theatrical release on July 3, 2026, and India’s Got Latent Season 2 already making headlines, fans of both comedy and cinema have plenty to look forward to.
