Redmi K90 ultra goes All-In on gaming: 165Hz Display, Massive 8,550mAh battery and 100W charging confirmed
Ahead of its June 30 launch, Redmi reveals key specifications of the K90 Ultra, including a high-refresh-rate display, flagship Snapdragon chipset and one of the biggest batteries ever seen in a gaming smartphone.
Redmi is leaving little to the imagination ahead of the launch of its highly anticipated Redmi K90 Ultra on June 30. The company has been steadily unveiling major features of the upcoming smartphone, and the latest teasers suggest that the device could become one of the most powerful gaming-focused phones in its segment.
From an ultra-smooth 165Hz display to a gigantic 8,550mAh battery, Redmi appears to be targeting gamers and power users who demand both performance and endurance.
165Hz Display Designed for Competitive Gaming
One of the biggest highlights of the Redmi K90 Ultra is its 6.83-inch flat display, which comes with slim bezels and rounded corners for a premium look. The screen supports a blazing-fast 165Hz refresh rate, making animations, scrolling and gaming significantly smoother than conventional displays.
The panel uses M10 display material and is capable of reaching an impressive 3,500 nits peak brightness, ensuring excellent visibility even in bright outdoor conditions.
Redmi has also integrated its Qingshan eye protection technology along with gaming-focused touch optimisations. According to the company, more than 40 popular games have already been optimized to run at a native 165fps, allowing players to take full advantage of the high-refresh-rate panel.
Huge 8,550mAh Battery Takes Center Stage
Battery life is another area where the Redmi K90 Ultra aims to stand out. The smartphone is equipped with an enormous 8,550mAh Xiaomi Jinshajiang battery, making it one of the largest batteries in a mainstream premium smartphone.
The battery uses 16% silicon content technology, which helps improve energy density without significantly increasing the phone’s size.
For charging, Redmi has confirmed support for:
- 100W wired fast charging
- 22.5W wired reverse charging
- Motherboard bypass charging during gaming
The bypass charging feature is particularly useful for gamers, as it helps reduce heat generation by powering the device directly rather than continuously charging the battery during long gaming sessions.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Powers the Experience
Under the hood, the Redmi K90 Ultra is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, paired with the dedicated D2 gaming display chip. This combination is expected to deliver flagship-level gaming performance while maintaining stable frame rates during demanding tasks.
To further enhance performance, Redmi has retained the advanced active cooling system seen in its higher-end gaming models.
Advanced Cooling with Built-In Fan
Gaming smartphones often struggle with heat management, but Redmi claims the K90 Ultra has addressed that challenge through an upgraded cooling solution.
The device features an 18.1mm active cooling fan with metal bearings, capable of reducing internal temperatures by up to 10 degrees Celsius within 100 seconds. Impressively, the company says the fan operates at around 32dB, keeping noise levels relatively low.

Despite housing an active cooling fan, the smartphone still offers IP68 and IP69 ratings, providing strong resistance against dust and water.
Premium Design and Extra Features
The newly showcased Space Silver variant features a precision-crafted CNC aluminium frame with an anodised finish, giving the phone a premium flagship appearance.

Additional confirmed features include:
- Stereo speakers
- X-axis linear vibration motor
- Landscape network optimisation for gaming
- Dedicated gaming audio enhancements
A Flagship Gaming Phone Without the Flagship Price?
Rather than stripping away premium features to hit a lower price point, Redmi appears to have retained nearly all of the hardware gamers expect from a high-end device.
With its flagship processor, active cooling system, ultra-fast display and massive battery, the Redmi K90 Ultra is shaping up to be a serious contender in the competitive gaming smartphone market. Positioned around the 3,000 Yuan price segment, the device could offer flagship-level specifications at a considerably more accessible price.
With just days remaining before the official unveiling, all eyes are now on Redmi to see whether the K90 Ultra can live up to the growing hype.
