Redmi K90 Ultra teaser reveals a mysterious rear air vent, hinting at active cooling ahead of its June 30 launch.

The flagship smartphone race is heating up — and Redmi appears ready to take that quite literally.

The company has officially confirmed the launch of the Redmi K90 Ultra in China on June 30, and ahead of the big reveal, an early look at the device has sparked massive curiosity among tech enthusiasts.

The reason? A mysterious air vent-like opening placed just below the rear camera module.

At first glance, it may look like a design element. But industry watchers believe it could be something far more important — a built-in active cooling fan, a rare and aggressive move for a mainstream flagship smartphone.

If true, this could be a game-changer.

In recent years, smartphone brands have focused heavily on packing ultra-powerful chipsets into their devices. But one major problem remains: heat management.

Powerful processors can deliver incredible speed, but sustained performance during gaming or heavy multitasking often causes throttling. That’s where Redmi seems to be aiming for an edge.

According to details shared by the company on Weibo, the Redmi K90 Ultra will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, paired with what Redmi calls an “upgraded thermal system.”

The company claims this setup will allow the phone to maintain stable performance during long gaming sessions without significant drops in speed.

That promise alone makes the K90 Ultra one of the most anticipated Android launches this month.

In terms of design, Redmi hasn’t changed much from the rest of the K90 lineup. The teaser reveals a sleek silver finish and a large horizontal camera island on the back, giving it a premium yet familiar look.

But the cooling hardware gives this phone a completely different identity — one clearly aimed at gamers and power users.

Leaks and reports suggest the phone could feature a 6.89-inch OLED display with an ultra-smooth 165Hz refresh rate, which would place it among the fastest screens in the segment.

Battery life may be another huge talking point.

Rumours indicate a battery larger than 8,000mAh, which, if confirmed, would make it one of the biggest batteries ever seen in a flagship smartphone.

Other expected features include an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, IP68 water and dust resistance, and premium build quality.

Redmi has already opened pre-orders in China, increasing the excitement ahead of launch.

Now, the biggest questions remain unanswered — how much will it cost, and will the active cooling system actually deliver real-world results?

The answers arrive on June 30, but one thing is clear: Redmi isn’t just launching another flagship — it may be launching a performance monster.
