Ameesha Patel’s Parents’ Mumbai Home Robbed, Jewellery Worth Rs 5 Lakh Missing; Domestic Worker Arrested From Virar

Mumbai: A jewellery theft has been reported from the Churchgate residence of Bollywood actor Ameesha Patel’s parents, with valuables estimated to be worth around Rs 5 lakh allegedly stolen from the house.

The Mumbai Police have arrested a domestic worker in connection with the case following a complaint filed by Ameesha’s mother, Asha Patel.

According to IANS, the accused has been identified as Seema Ghate, 40, a resident of Palghar. She had reportedly been working as a domestic helper at Asha Patel’s residence for around one and a half years.

What went missing from Ameesha Patel’s parents’ home?

According to police, a bangle worth approximately Rs 5 lakh was allegedly stolen from the Churchgate residence in January 2026.

Asha Patel reportedly suspected the domestic worker of being involved in the disappearance of the jewellery.

For several months, she allegedly asked Ghate to admit whether she had taken the bangle and return it. However, when the jewellery was not recovered, Asha eventually approached the Marine Drive Police and lodged a formal complaint.

The complaint set in motion an investigation that eventually led officers to Virar.

Police trace domestic worker to Virar

Following Asha Patel’s complaint, the Marine Drive Police initially registered a case against an unidentified woman under Section 306 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

A crime detection team then began working on the case and subsequently traced Ghate to Virar, where she was detained.

Police later arrested her in connection with the alleged theft.

Ghate was produced before a court following her arrest and has been remanded to police custody until September 15.

The allegations against her remain subject to investigation and judicial proceedings.

Rs 5 lakh bangle yet to be recovered

While an arrest has been made, the investigation is not over.

Police are currently attempting to recover the missing jewellery, with the bangle reportedly still untraced.

Investigators are also examining whether the accused has any previous criminal record or whether there are other circumstances connected to the alleged theft that require further investigation.

The recovery of the jewellery could now become one of the key aspects of the ongoing probe.

Who is Ameesha Patel?

Ameesha Patel made a blockbuster Bollywood debut opposite Hrithik Roshan in Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai in 2000. The film became a major commercial success and established her as one of the prominent new faces in Hindi cinema at the time.

She subsequently appeared in several popular films, including Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Humraaz, Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd., Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Race 2.

Ameesha made a major return to the spotlight in 2023 when she reprised her iconic role of Sakeena opposite Sunny Deol in Gadar 2.

The sequel emerged as a massive box-office success and became the highest-grossing film of Ameesha Patel’s career.

She was later seen in Tauba Tera Jalwa, directed by Akashaditya Lama, which was released in 2024.

For now, attention remains on the investigation at her family’s Mumbai residence, with police working to recover the allegedly stolen jewellery and establish the complete sequence of events.
