Donald Trump warns of fresh NATO exit threat, calls alliance ‘one-sided’ says US gets “nothing back”

Washington DC: Former US President Donald Trump has once again stirred global political circles after launching a sharp attack on the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), calling the alliance “one-sided” and warning that the United States could reconsider its membership if the imbalance continues.

In a fiery post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump criticized the defence spending of Britain and other European allies, arguing that the US shoulders an unfair financial burden while receiving little in return.

“The United States spends more money on NATO than any other country, by far, to protect them, without getting any benefit from so doing… Ridiculous!” Trump wrote, reigniting concerns over his long-standing skepticism toward the alliance.

Trump’s remarks have once again put the spotlight on the growing tensions within NATO over military spending. For years, the Republican leader has maintained that several European nations are not contributing enough toward collective defence, despite repeated commitments.
