Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh has extended his support to students protesting over alleged examination irregularities, calling on authorities to listen to the concerns of young people instead of allowing the situation to escalate.

The actor’s statement comes after protests in New Delhi turned tense during the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led Chalo Sansad march, where clashes broke out between demonstrators and Delhi Police.

‘We stand in solidarity with the youth’

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Riteish Deshmukh shared a message expressing solidarity with the protesting students.

He said the voices of the country’s youth deserve to be heard “loud, clear, and without fear,” while urging the administration to engage in meaningful dialogue with the protesters.

The actor also stressed that the aspirations and concerns of young people are crucial for the nation’s future, making it important to address their grievances through discussion rather than confrontation.

Protests turn violent in Delhi

The demonstrations intensified after thousands of students and supporters gathered for the CJP’s Chalo Sansad march, demanding action over alleged examination paper leaks and other irregularities in the education system.

According to Delhi Police, protesters allegedly became aggressive, ignored repeated warnings to disperse, damaged public property, and attacked security personnel, prompting police intervention.

The police said several personnel were injured during the clashes, while cases have been registered under various sections related to rioting, assault on public servants, and damage to public property.

Protest organisers and participants, however, have disputed the police’s version of events, alleging that the march was peaceful and accusing authorities of using excessive force to disperse the crowd.

CJP reiterates its demands

Ahead of the protest, a delegation from the Cockroach Janta Party met Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda to submit its demands.

Among the key demands raised were the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, a comprehensive investigation into the alleged examination paper leak controversy, and financial assistance for families of students reportedly affected by the ongoing crisis.

The organisation has also said that the protests will continue until its demands are addressed.

Meanwhile, activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been participating in the movement and observing a hunger strike, remains under medical care after his health deteriorated during the agitation.

Celebrities join the conversation

Riteish Deshmukh is among several public figures who have voiced concern over the ongoing protests in recent days. The demonstrations have attracted nationwide attention, with celebrities, political leaders, and education activists weighing in on the issue and calling for accountability and transparency in the examination process.

As the debate continues, the focus remains on finding a resolution that addresses students’ concerns while maintaining public order.
