Prakash Raj Faces Non-Bailable Warrant Over Alleged Multiple Voter ID Cards Case
Actor Prakash Raj faces legal scrutiny after a Bengaluru court issued a non-bailable warrant in a case involving allegations of multiple voter identity cards across different states.

Veteran actor Prakash Raj has landed in legal trouble after a Bengaluru court issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against him in connection with allegations that he possesses multiple voter identity cards registered in different states.

The order, passed by the 48th Magistrate Court in Bengaluru, comes after the actor reportedly failed to appear before the court despite being served summons on multiple occasions.

The development has triggered fresh discussions about electoral regulations, voter registration procedures, and the legal responsibilities of public figures.

What Are the Allegations?

The case stems from a complaint filed by K. Dileep Kumar, a resident of Sheshadripuram in Bengaluru.

According to the complaint, Prakash Raj allegedly holds as many as four voter identity cards registered in different locations across India.

The complainant claims that the actor has voter registrations in Shantinagar (Karnataka), Serilingampally (Telangana), and two separate voter IDs linked to the Velachery Assembly constituency in Tamil Nadu.

If proven, such registrations could potentially violate election rules, which generally permit an individual to be enrolled as a voter in only one constituency at a time.

Court Takes Serious View of Non-Appearance

Court records indicate that summons were reportedly issued to the actor on three separate occasions. However, Prakash Raj allegedly failed to appear before the court each time.

Taking note of the repeated absence, the magistrate decided to issue a non-bailable warrant, signaling the seriousness with which the court is treating the matter.

Legal experts note that a non-bailable warrant is typically issued when a court believes that previous attempts to secure an individual’s appearance have not been successful.

Questions Raised Over Service of Notice

An interesting aspect of the case revolves around the efforts made to serve court notices.

Police authorities had reportedly informed the court that they were unable to locate the actor. However, questions have emerged after allegations surfaced that Prakash Raj attended a press conference in Bengaluru on June 18.

Reports suggest that security arrangements for the event were handled by the Cubbon Park Police, leading some to question why the court notice was allegedly not served during his public appearance.
