Donald Trump says ‘Thank You’ after Hyderabad road gets his name… first US President to receive this honour
A ceremonial road near the US Consulate in Hyderabad has been renamed Donald Trump Avenue, prompting a public thank-you from the former US President.
In a move that has sparked global attention, former US President Donald Trump has thanked India after a prominent road in Hyderabad was ceremonially renamed in his honour.
Taking to his social media platform Truth Social, Trump acknowledged the gesture and wrote, “The new Donald Trump Avenue in Hyderabad, India — The first U.S. President to ever be honored in this way. Thank you!”
The announcement came during the grand “Freedom 250” celebration, marking the 250th anniversary of American Independence, where senior officials from both India and the United States gathered to celebrate the growing strategic ties between the two nations.
The ceremonial plaque for Donald Trump Avenue was unveiled jointly by US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor and Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday. The renamed stretch is located near the US Consulate in Hyderabad, symbolising the strengthening diplomatic and economic relationship between the two countries.

The Telangana government said the move is meant to honour the United States and acknowledge Hyderabad’s increasing importance in the evolving India-US partnership.
The event witnessed the presence of key dignitaries, including Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and US Consul General Laura Williams, along with representatives from the business, aerospace, defence and technology sectors.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Sergio Gor highlighted Hyderabad’s growing role in the bilateral relationship.
“Nowhere is the high-speed trajectory of our partnership more evident than in Hyderabad. From HITEC City to aerospace and defence, this region represents progress defining our bilateral momentum,” he said.
He also touched upon the economic ties, stating that an interim trade agreement and Mission India are expected to generate over USD 20 billion in new investment into the United States.
The renaming has quickly become a major talking point, with supporters calling it a symbol of strong international ties, while critics have questioned the political messaging behind the move.
Regardless of the debate, the road now stands as a visible reminder of Hyderabad’s role in global diplomacy — and of Trump’s continuing influence on the world stage.
