Aishwarya Lekshmi’s Parents Wanted Her to Marry a Doctor, Had 1 Kg Gold Ready for Wedding, Claims Allepey Ashraf
Gatta Kusthi actress Aishwarya Lekshmi chose cinema after completing her MBBS, but filmmaker Allepey Ashraf claims her parents had once imagined a very different future for their only daughter.
Before Aishwarya Lekshmi became a familiar face in South Indian cinema, her family reportedly had a more conventional future in mind for her a career in medicine, marriage to a doctor and a settled family life.
Filmmaker and actor Allepey Ashraf has now spoken about the contrast between the life Aishwarya eventually chose and the plans her parents allegedly had for her. In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Ashraf claimed that her family had even kept jewellery, including around one kilogram of gold, aside with her future wedding in mind.
Parents Wanted Aishwarya to Become and Marry a Doctor
According to Allepey Ashraf, Aishwarya is the only daughter of government employees from Thiruvananthapuram. Academically strong, she went on to complete her MBBS degree, seemingly putting her on the path towards a medical career.
Ashraf claimed her parents hoped she would become a doctor, eventually marry another doctor and start a family.
But Aishwarya’s ambitions began moving in another direction. While completing her house-surgeon duties, she reportedly started exploring modelling, which eventually opened the doors to the entertainment industry.
Her decision to pursue acting instead of medicine was, according to Ashraf, difficult for her parents to accept.
‘Around 1 Kg Gold’ Allegedly Kept for Her Marriage
One of Ashraf’s most striking claims concerned the preparations Aishwarya’s parents had reportedly made for her future marriage.
Citing information he said came from a relative close to the actress, Ashraf claimed that her parents had kept aside jewellery, including approximately one kilogram of gold, while thinking about their daughter’s wedding.
He also claimed that despite Aishwarya becoming financially successful through films, her parents have never depended on her earnings.

Ashraf even alleged that when the actress once bought a saree for her mother as a gesture of affection, her mother declined to accept it.
These claims have been made by Allepey Ashraf and should not be treated as direct statements from Aishwarya Lekshmi or her parents.
From MBBS Graduate to Malayalam Cinema Star
Aishwarya made her acting debut with Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela, but it was Mayaanadhi, opposite Tovino Thomas, that brought her wider recognition.
The romantic drama became an important film in her career and established her as a performer willing to take on complex roles.
Ashraf also referred to Aishwarya’s previous remarks about her family’s response to intimate scenes in Mayaanadhi and their concerns during discussions surrounding the Hema Committee report.
Commenting on what he described as a generational difference, Ashraf said, “Aishwarya is a symbol of the changes in the new generation.” He suggested that her parents may find it difficult to reconcile those changes with the future they had once envisioned for their daughter.
Aishwarya Lekshmi Continues to Build Her Film Career
Despite beginning her professional journey with a medical degree, Aishwarya Lekshmi has built a diverse filmography across multiple South Indian industries.
She has appeared in projects including Maaman and Thug Life, while also reprising Keerthi in Gatta Kusthi 2.
Her upcoming projects reportedly include the Telugu film SYG – Sambarala Yeti Gattu and the Malayalam film Aasha, both currently in production.
Aishwarya’s journey from an MBBS graduate to an established actress reflects a career choice dramatically different from the one her family reportedly imagined and, more than anything, shows how one decision can completely rewrite a carefully planned future.
