Mokksha’s graceful ‘Appadi Podu’ dance in ‘Gatta Kusthi 2’ has turned her into Tamil cinema’s latest viral sensation.

The buzz around Gatta Kusthi 2 is growing stronger with every passing day. Starring Vishnu Vishal and Aishwarya Lekshmi, the film has struck a chord with audiences for its energetic blend of comedy, action, and emotional drama. While the lead pair has earned praise for their performances, one unexpected face has quietly stolen the spotlight — Mokksha.

Playing the role of Meenu, a teacher who captures Veera’s attention with her charm and elegance, Mokksha has become the latest sensation among moviegoers. Her standout dance sequence on Vijay’s iconic track ‘Appadi Podu’ has especially sparked conversations online, making fans eager to know more about the actress behind the viral moment.

But who exactly is Mokksha?

Born as Pritha Sengupta in Barrackpore, West Bengal, Mokksha’s path to cinema has been far from ordinary. Before stepping into films, she completed her degree in Psychology and worked as a school teacher. Alongside academics, she also trained students in dance — a passion she had nurtured for years.

A skilled performer in classical dance forms like Bharatanatyam, Kathak, and Odissi, Mokksha slowly transitioned into the entertainment industry, building her career across multiple regional film industries.

Her acting journey began in Telugu cinema with ‘Lucky Lakshman’, followed by roles in films such as ‘Neethone Nenu’, ‘I Hate You’, ‘Alanaati Ramachandrudu’, and ‘Ramam Raghavam’. She later expanded her reach to Malayalam cinema with ‘Kallanum Bhagavathiyum’, and also appeared in the horror thriller ‘Chithini’. Apart from South Indian films, she has also worked in Bengali films and web series.

Interestingly, Mokksha’s Tamil debut in ‘Inga Naan Thaan Kingu’ opposite actor Mahesh did not bring her the recognition she had hoped for. But with ‘Gatta Kusthi 2’, things seem to have changed dramatically.

Her screen presence, expressive dance moves, and natural performance have made her one of the most talked-about elements of the film. Social media platforms are flooded with clips of her dance sequences, and her fanbase is growing rapidly.

Beyond films, Mokksha has also built a strong identity as a dancer. In 2024, one of her street dance performances in Kolkata went viral, earning her widespread attention. Her Instagram profile, filled with a mix of glamorous and traditional looks, continues to attract thousands of new followers.

With Tamil cinema finally taking notice of her talent, industry insiders believe Mokksha may be on the verge of a major breakthrough. If the response to ‘Gatta Kusthi 2’ is anything to go by, this could just be the beginning of a much bigger journey for the actress.
